I picked these up at the weekend - GSXR1000 coil overs (It's handy having a mate who owns a bike breakers) But in order to try and make them work I need the make and part number of the ignitor that came with our setup so I can get 2 more. I'm sure it was mentioned in the original thread somewhere but I can't find it

Can anyone help??? please!

I think I have it in a file at home from the original fitting info.
I will try and find it tonight or just get 2 from Adaptronic in the UK maybe?

Just going by what chernobyl mentioned earlier in the alternate ecu thread!
Bosch ignition module BIM 085
http://apps.bosch.com.au/products/saa/ignition_modules.pdf
Picture of it also on Section 4 page 29
Hope that helps and good luck with it!

Just to clarify, are these coilpacks for the spark plugs? If so, are they also known as coilovers (like the suspension) or has fxdlidon just had a long day?

yeps - I was having a bad day meant to say coilpacks (should possibbley change the title of the thread)

and thanks DeeZ, thats the info I was looking for - will have to be the weekend after next as I'm busy this one ( I "volenteered" to fit a kitchen! ) - will give me time to get the ignitors at least.

Well I finally got around to trying these today - it's taken me a while to source some suitable ignitors and make up the sub-loom for it all.

The good news is it fired up on the first touch of the key , which on a stone cold engine, at about 4C is an absolute miracle. The bad news is it only fired up on 2

I swapped over the coilpacks and I've since checked the loom - no probs there. I've either got the settings in wari wrong or a duff ignitor.

I was running out of daylight so I had to put everything back to standard, but I'll have another go next weekend - given the way it fired up immediately on only 2 makes me think this might be worth persuing if only for the cold starting benifits.

I picked up these this week.

A Crank Angle Sensor from a Toyota 1GGZE.
24 tooth sync/home/reset.

3 Coilovers from a Nissan R33 Series 2 that have built in ignitors with part of the loom with plugs to match.

Heres a pic of the coilovers sitting on the LGD's engine just for a test fit.

I got them off a guy who fitted them to an F6AT FWD Mightyboy, but I dont think he could set it up properly.
He had the CAS turned down slightly in a lathe so it fits straight in where the distributor fits.
I plan not only to fit the CAS and Coilovers but with this CAS I should be able to set up individual synchronous fuel injection also.

Way to go grant
Bigest problem you'll have, I think, is sorting out a feed for the tacho as you'll be using all 3 of ignition outputs on the adaptronic.
I like the fact you've found a CAS that fits(ish) - my original idea was to fit a trigger wheel into he base of the standard distributor

Tacho output shouldnt be a problem as you can use and configure one of auxillary outputs for that.

I may not get a chance to fit it until after christmas now with the usual end of year goings on.

It will probably take a week or two to get my head around the ingnition cam angle settings anyway.

Basically nothing at low rpm but much better spark and reliability at higher rev's.
Standard set up with dizzy and coil leads = say 40K volt at the coil and about 30K volt afdter losses at the plugs.

Coil over plugs = staright 40K volt at the plugs.

No big deal really, however the big benefit is that with a 24 tooth trigger I will be able to set up sequential fuel injection. The standard distributor only give 3 pulses per cam shaft revoltion which makes it a bit difficult.

With sequential fuel injection the injectors have much more dead time making them more realiable/accurate and the whole set up much easier to get a good tune.

Thanks for the answer.

Would sequential injection help solving transient throttle issues ?

Yes and No. It would definately make ity better but that issue is more to do with your basic settings and sometimes the second fuel map.
I dont have any problems at all.

Don't forget to supply an extra injector driver for cyl 3 as the standard setup has injectors 2 & 3 running on the same wire

That's not generally a good thing to do, to keep the injector dead-times the same the current loading needs to be the same for each injector driver.

If you must share one output for two cylinders then share 1 & 3 and have 2 on its own output, that way number two will be slightly richer which it would benefit from, since it runs hotter.

Each injector will have seperate drives direct from the ECU, none of them will be shared.

^ No I have not given up yet I have just been busy/side tracked with other issues like work, camping, kids and worst of all wife commitments!

I am looking for a second hand distributor to mount the CAS sensor as I need the base and I dont want to use one in a working distibutor.

Now you have brought it up I may start to get serious again.
