Just wondered what sensors are considered good.  There's an LC-1 available on ebay that i'm intrested but i remember Don mentioning about one particular brand that had a tendency to fail after a while.

That's a shame as it is possible to combine the LC-1 with the exhaust temp sensor from the same brand and plug both to your Adaptronic so you can log exhaust gaz temp... that's what I planned to do.

The TechEdge WB02 2J1 seems v good and is supported by the Adaptronic.

I'm also happy enough with my TechEdge WB02 2J1, though I've nothing to compare it with.

I forgot another good thing with LC-1: you can connect it to an Adaptronic and to a gauge, so you can keep an eye on your AFR without having a computer connected to the Adaptronic.

Oh, and according to this test, LC-1 is a very quick & accurate AFR sensor. Too bad they didn't test a WB02 2J1.

I just ordered an XD16 (LC-1 + gauge) kit on ebay for 260¤, I'll see how long it will last

I have had an lc-1 in my car for about 3 months and have no issues to report. I took my time with the installation though, reading through the manual every day for a week before I fired up my soldering iron

How did you go about wiring it up, i've got everything in place and ready to just solder onto the ecu loom.

The LC-1 needs an ignition source and suitable grounds, i thought i could just conect the grounds to one of the common grounds on the loom and the ignition source from the loom also.  Will this be ok? i dont want to put too much load on that circuit.

Did you just connect the serial lead to the ecu or did you also wire in the simulated narrowband?

Cheers

Kei, your plan should be fine. Here's what I did:

On the J1 (8 wire) Connector

Red wire (Ignition 12v)  Pin#1 - > Red from LC1

Black wire (Ground) Pin#2 - > Blue and White from LC1, plus cathode (short side) of the led and one side of the pushbutton. I stripped some of the plastic off the ground wire to do this, then twisted the other wires onto the same spot before letting the solder flow into the join.

I soldered the long side (anode) of the led and the other end of the pushbutton to the calibration wire.

I taped up the yellow, brown, and green wires on the LC1 out of harms way, as I'm only using the digital output into the adaptronic's spare serial port (the other being used to connect a laptop).

I think thats all I did... please check to be sure though

In addition to the e420c wiring diagram, here are the other sources of info I used.

I did it without removing the adaptronic loom from the car, its probably easier to wire it beforehand if you haven't completed the loom yet.

Spot on just what i wanted to hear

I have everything plumbed in and ready for the last two sensors (arriving sometime this week) and then i'm all go.

Does anyone have an easy way of removing the passenger storage drawer? i cant for the life of me figure out how to fully remove and usually just end up pulling it down and end up fanny'ing about in the small void above, i know it's easy but never manage to get it off.

Cant wait to see what this ecu can do with a fully healthy stage 2.5 engine, with the increased fuel pressure i can achieve i'm expecting good things.

Oh yeah Kei, and I can't wait to see some 0 to 60mph (or more) videos

About the storage drawer, there's a screw inside it on the right, and I think that's all. You just have to figure out how to remove it, just move it in all direction and it should eventually get out.

By the way, be aware that putting it back is a pain in the a*se too...

I bought a wideband LC1 O2 sensor kit last week for $ 220.00 AUD brand new.
Hope to fit it in the next week or so.
