This is a thread for all you AZ-1 owners. Decided you wanted to go out for a nice drive? Why not bring your camera along and snap a few pics of your time. Show us where you live, where your favorite place to drive is etc. Pretty much, if you would like to put it on here, we would love to see it.

Allow me to contribute!

This is a roadside pull-off alongside the highway outside of Lethbridge. Fairly typical Canadian prairie scenery.

Not much activity in this thread! So...

This morning the wife asked me to go buy a loaf of bread and some pastries. Nine hours and almost 800 klometres later, I arrived back home. Yes, this is not an unusual occurrence, in case you're wondering.

Stopped to look at some combines:

And some tractors:

Took a detour to the Rocky Mountains:

Stopped to look at a mountain that came crashing down, burying a town:

Admired the beer advertising (ahhh, beer...):

Listened to some wind turbines (they're very loud!):

Imagined I could fly away:

Compared myself to a fighter plane:

Watched some oil being sucked up to the surface:

Stopped to smell the proverbial roses:

I finally remembered the bread!

A few less bugs in the world:

After this day trip, I can honestly say that these cars are not great touring cars. Your legs cramp up, your feet go numb, the wind noise is tiresome, and it is a bit of a pain getting in and out all the time. With that said, however, you have to do a long trip every once in a while, just to let those engines breathe! I got tremendous fuel economy, despite travelling at about 5,000rpm all the time on the highway. Anyhow, hopefully next weekend I'll go in the opposite direction and take some different pictures.

Believe it or not, it is a difficult colour to photograph. I tried to get some green backdrops but wasn't all that successful. And the day wasn't all that good either - there is such a tremendous amount of smoke in the air from all the forest fires burning, you can hardly see the mountains. I think next month I'll make a return trip so that the Rockies are clearer. I'd like to take a drive out to Cranbrook; it's about 3 hours from here, and the road winds right through the mountains, so it is quite pretty.

I have no idea how I am going to get all those bugs off! Wish me luck! Or, I could just go out again today and pile some more on, and then go to the high-pressure carwash and blast them off...

I just go to the carwash and use the engine degreaser. Works like a charm. Just don't let it sit on your paint for too long - a minute or so at most.

Nice! I love my Figaro, but I wish I would've got a different colour.

Sean - I also really like your wheels! They look so cool with the contrasting red & aluminum.

It was raining like crazy yesterday, so of course I thought that would be a great time to go for a drive! Here is the parking lot at the local shopping mall where I stopped to buy a few books.

Yeah I love the look of it in black. The wheels are 14". They look Huge though don't they. I'm still not sure how well I like the rim style. Almost too much silver but not it's not bad.

yep, I think 14's are ideal and they look great there's no way I'd get away with my 15's if it weren't for the very stiff suspension

Here is a picture of it sitting beside my Mothers Mazda 3 I'm liking the new wheels more. I think my issue with em was the contrast of the black on the rim to the tire to the car. It dosent match, but I'm guessing once I get them dressed it will look much cleaner. Speaking of cleaner I have to do something about the bottom there hah. I've washed and scrubbed it but still comes out looking dirty like this

So it finally stopped raining! Hey, it's a long weekend - let's hit the road!

This one is for you, Sean:

The foothills of the Rockies are beautiful at this time of the year:

It's only the first week of September, but there is already snow in the mountains!

And of course the wind is always blowing!

Hope I never meet this guy on a narrow bridge!

1928 to 1992: a little quicker, but the idea is the same. Fun, fun, fun!

Just for a laugh, here is what the car weighs when we get out:

And when we are inside:

Hopefully we'll get out a few more times before he gets parked for the winter!

Now these are Class! You certainly got some great shots, and what a great one by the "Welcome to BC" sign. Its really cool to see that the car is exactly the same weight as it "should be" so says the online articles. Keep driving Ross. This thread will get very slow when fall weather really hits.

Thanks Sean!

We caused quite a stir at the big truck site. Oh well.

I'd like to go down into Montana this weekend if possible. I don't know how many AZ-1s have ever crossed the border into that country - I'm sure it's not too many! Then it should be oil-change time, swap some new hoses in, and then... Sitting in the garage.

-sigh-

Well, as predicted, this thread did get slow once winter came on. But there was a bit of a break this weekend, so I thought I better take advantage of it:

And just for a laugh:

Yes - that thing is driven on the street!

I didn't travel that far this morning, but it was a nice foggy morning, so I thought it would be a great opportunity to take some atmospheric photographs.

Amazing photos

Do your headlights need adjusting down though they appear to be aimed upwards

Another Saturday, another bout of quality time spent in the AZ-1!

We drove down to Writing on Stone Provincial Park, about a hour from my hometown of Lethbridge. It was a perfect day, and this park is achingly beautiful... Without further ado, here are a few snapshots:

Hope everyone had a good Easter!

Haha - the name is "Writing on Stone" park because there is the largest collection of petroglyphs in Canada there - in other words, there is a large collection of "writings" carved into the (sand)stone. It's a magical place - there are many native Indian legends and stories about this place, and it is still a popular place for people riding on horses and exploring all the nooks and crannies in the rock formations.

Here is more information:

A quick little jaunt in the rain to test out my new rubber door mouldings (flimsy excuse, I know - but who here hasn't used something similar to get out for a drive) turned into a 10-hour, 700-kilometre trip into a neighbouring province, across the Rocky Mountains, all because of a rumour of a Korean-owned sushi restaurant with very cute waitresses (I left out that last bit when I was describing the quest to the wife). Here are the pictures to prove my success:

Wouldn't want to test out the crash-worthiness of the AZ-1 with this fella:

The wheel hubs were taller than my car!

The unassuming holy grail:

Worth every minute of the trip! And it was fun driving through the mountain passes at double the speed limit... My new tires are great.
