No, there is definately another one on the road here, and I think I remember Don saying that there is another in a museum. |

I think Don said there are 6? Three were at KKITP 2009. Then there's the one that was for sale for ages in Jersey and one that turned up in the scrapyard in York? |

I think 6 is right Ed's, mine, and Steve's in the pic. Jamie's (if he's still got it) in guernsey. The one in a scrapyard and one in a museum somewhere. I'm fairly sure there's at least 2 more but I haven't been able to trace them. |

It hasn't got the MazdaSpeed kit that the other two have. |

Steve's is how %95 of them came out of the factory. Ed's may be a genuine MazdaSpeed version but mine has had the bonnet and front bumper replaced with MazdaSpeed copies and a rear spoiler fitted - mind you they did a good job |

sorrry mdh - just back from holiday I imported mine - bought it on USS Auto Auctions in japan for 1,000,000 yen (just over £4000 at the time - £6500 on the road). I believe Ed bought his in the uk. Steve works for the company that did the original crash/roadworthness testing on the AZ-1 (it was done in the uk) he got his as a very big box of bits from the company.
Not that many coming up for aution inn japan anymore and given the yen/£ exchange rate nowadays I think £8000 would get you one on the road in the uk. |

Shipping is stupidly cheap, it's based on volume - when I imported mine an average family saloon cost about £500, the AZ-1 was just under £200
Import duty is %10 + vat on the value of the car plus the import duty - yes they charge you tax on tax! On the plus side it's based on the value as stated on the 'bill of lading' - mine was valued at £1100 so the tax was around £250, you need a sympathetic shipper.
Once you get it into the country it'll need an mot (should only need a rear foglight for that, mine is a red bulb in the offside reversing light wired up to a switch on the dash), insurance (you can get it on the VIN number) then fill out the right forms and you can register it. (I think the fee is around £60 + road tax) |

Hello everyone. Having enjoyed driving my cappuccino around, I now have an AZ-1 on its way from Japan -- hopefully it will arrive soon to the UK. If you have any specific advice or know any good specialist for servicing I am a taker! Maybe we could also have a meet some day. Mine is black so would complement the red and grey well... |

Thanks all, glad to see i am not the only crazy az-1 enthusiast! Will certainly try to make the kkitp meet (when / where is it?). As for shipping cost, it is hard to tell, the importer quoted me an "all included" price... |

Thanks, can't wait to get my hands on it next week. Thinking already of changing the wheels, as these are not standard in any case. I have been looking on the web and could not find much. I will ask the guy who imported it but was wondering if anyone had any idea for the UK (and for any part generally, many of which must be common with cappuccino parts). |

Standard wheels are 13x5 PCD 114.3 ET 38 although you can get away with 14's and lower profile tyres. Bigest problem you'll have is if you want to replace the wheel nuts - there M10 X P1.25, I had to get mine from japan. |

Well all good so far, it is such a great car, beautiful too. Been trying to upload pictures but the files are too big, will try and re-format them at some point. Found that picture on the internet though, quite amazing: check out the 8th picture! http://homepage3.nifty.com/rsmirai/MIRAI/Body/ReadMe/ReadMe.htm The car is absolutely spotless, really incredible, must have been maintained by a Japanese fanatic. It looks like it just came out of the factory. Otherwise I have been doing some reading, and for the proud owners of Mazdaspeed versions I gathered the following stats, from a book my Japanese-speaking girlfriend translated for me: 250 MSVs (code for Mazdaspeed Version!) produced in total, of which 50 type 1 (either red or blue), 100 type 2 (red, blue or silver) and 100 type 3 (red, silver or black). No difference between the "types" but just different production series. Pretty rare! Otherwise how did the kkitp meet go? Sorry I could not join this time around, maybe next year. |

Glad you're enjoying it - there such amazing cars That pic of all those AZ-1's on the grid - WoW!!!
Not all the Mazda Speed versions are were built as that - mine was originally a blue Type L but must have had the bonnet and front bumper replaced and the spoiler fitted. If you want to know a bit more about yours post your chasis number in the What's your AZ-1s Birthday thread http://www.clubcappo.co.uk/board/Blah/Blah.cgi?b=AZ1OS,m=1280074301 and AZ1 can look it up for you. |

I looked at various auction houses but in the end I decided to go through a UK specialist importer (DCY Europe). I think they make a margin and therefore more expensive than just doing it on your own I would think, but the car they got for me was absolutely perfect and they were very good and they take care of all the paperwork + uk legal requirements for the car, which saves a lot of trouble. |
