Hi fellow AZ-1ers,
My micro machine has developed a coolant leak, occasional drops have turned into constant drops.... I suspect the water pump as the coolant is coming from some point above the crankcase, not coolant bottle, not radiator etc.
My question is, before I try to source a new water pump from Yahoo or whatever, does anyone know what the part number is, and if it's shared/generic across other Mazda/Ford/Suzuki models? My experience is that these kind of parts often are so if I can get one from a 121 or a 626 or something instead that would be grand.
Thanks dudes! |

The Mazda part number is az12-15-010 for the water pump. The suzuki part number is 17400-50812.
The part is shared with any f6a dohc suzuki engined car. It's possible that a daewoo matiz also uses the same pump (source: google) but I can't confirm this although it makes some sense as they use a suzuki licensed 3cyl engine. If you have a wrecker nearby with a matiz it could be worth comparing the one you have with the matiz version.
You may find some auto parts stores that will be able to order a suzuki cappuccino (ea11r) part for you. They are the same. Otherwise yahoo or suzukigeek on here should be able to help you out.
Hmm, as for diagnosis, also check the hoses that run to the turbo from between the two camshafts.
If it turns out to be the water pump it'll probably be worth changing the cambelt while you have it out. If you need any more info let me know and I'll see what I can do... |

Looks like it's used on a whole range of cars. Have a look here http://www.nt.gr/en/Details.asp?ProductID=CSCP0002JCAAI. Seems your right about the Matiz brett
Certainly wont be the easiest thing to replace with the engine in place although Ed did manage to do his timing belt without taking the engine out so it should be possible. |

Thanks guys, you're a goldmine of information! I'm hoping its just hoses or clamps rather than the pump itself, but good to know I can find a new one pretty easily if needed.
I suspect we'll go over a few things if we have to take everything out...
