Can someone tell me what this part is that I have pointed out here:
I just recently noticed it is disconnected. When I plug it back in I get an awful ticking from the engine. I can adjust the idle to have the ticking stop but it only goes away around 1150rpm which is high for idle I'd think. Plus it still comes back for a bit when I release the accelerator. Seems like having it disconnected isn't the best way to solve the ticking and I'm trying to figure out what exactly it is / does. Before I try to look into solving the tick properly.
The car *seems* to be running fine without it plugged in (hoses are connected the little blue connector at the bottom is off). My gas mileage seems fine (6.2L/100km on average) and I don't seem to be running low on power or anything like that.
Thanks for any help guys |

The ticking noise actually comes from within the blue valve. There is a little rubber gasket thingy that wears out and you end up hearing metal on metal. Thankfully it doesn't effect reliability. I would have thought that the idle speed would be a little irregular depending on engine and air temperatures, and how much load (ie a/c or lights on) was applied to the engine. Do find the car stalls easily when the weather is really cold / hot? |

I haven't had the car stall at all yet, idle is very stable actually. I was thinking it was the IAC but wasn't completely sure. When I start the car it idles at ~1800 for 15-20 seconds then starts dropping ending up at 950 after about a minute. Once its there it stays there, if I turn on both the ac and lights my idle drops by a few rpm but dosen't really fluctuate.
If it dosen't effect the reliability I'm thinking I should plug it back in. Then try to find a replacement for this one.
Thanks for the responses guys. |

Revs should rise when you have the AC on so the fact they are dropping means that it will be easier to stall. Sounds like you've done all right so far though |
