It is here now and on the road my swift gti engined cappo with a turbo for added fun and boy it is fun . At the moment only running 160 BHP at .8 bar of boost . I would put some pic's on but i can't get them to up load  so if Andy would be so kind as to drop me his email address i can email him the pic's and i hope he would be so kind as to put them on for me.

It may only be 160 bhp but it goes off the clock very quick !!  . There is more power to come but only taking baby steps at the moment. Next target is 200 but need to lower the compression so forged pistons to come soon.

The build to date is the car is running a standard transmision with a sj413 bellhousing grafted onto the gearbox . swift gti four pad clutch, swift gti front break calipers with green stuff pads and s/s break lines ,cross drilled disc's , cusco 2way LSD , suzuki sport diff bushes ,cusco 6 point roll cage , gab super shocks with rsr springs , yokohama AO48 track day tyers , the fuel pump is a 255 lph pump now , megasquirt managment , alloy radiator , large alloy intercooler, alloy engine mounts , mocal oil cooler with remote filter , t3 turbo and custom manafold ,custom s/s exhaust 2 1/2" , There are lot's of other stuff but i can't remember at the moment. PS standard gearbox holding up very well . I do have some video of the car on the rollers at the tuning shop i will try and get it on youtube at some point but with the problems i had trying to put the photos on here i dont hold much hope, thanks andy for putting pic's on for me

Stephen, can I ask how you got the GTi calipers to fit on the Cappuccino? Did you have to modify anything?

The gti calipers fit with no mega mods all that is required is to remove the slid pins from the swift hanger's and fit them on the cappo hangers then the main gti caliper fits the cappo hanger with no other mods and you benafit from a caliper with approx 5mm bigger piston well that is if there is a benafit !! . it is hard to tell if there is any benafit as i did four changes to the brakes
1. cross drilled disk's fitted
2 green stuff pad's fitted
3 s/s brake  line'
4. and the caliper changes
but the car now stops as well as it goes.

That is a really tidy conversion, nice work dude!!

Whats the weight distribution like now?

I'm liking the rear luggage rack and wheelie bars too

no sorry there is no build diary . and as for your question about the weight distribution i have not put it on the corner weight scales but it should not be to far out as this swift engine is a all alloy block as with the cappo block is cast iron also i have changed as much of the engine bay parts to alloy and the battery (this it a small race one )is now under the dash behind the golvebox but will put it on the scales soon.

Did the corner weight's yesterday and not to bad. The car with 2/3rd tank of fuel came in at 744.5 kg that was left front 198.0 right front 205.5 left rear 172.0 and right rear 169.0.

I would never have thought of that for a car! Where would you get that done. So does that mean you would have to move a few components around the car to allow for an even balance??

No, you alter the spring heights. You do it frequently when racing.

This one has cost me a lot well over £6000 but i have gone to town with a lot of it. I think it can be done on a buget for about £3000 - £4000 Ie no cage or LSD etc. I would sell my cappo but it is so much fun i cant but you never know one day .

Well today has been a really good day, been back in for the new engine to be mapped.  The final power run with 0.8 bar of boost came out at 197 bhp with 198 ft lb of torque.  Believe me you don't need anymore power than this in a small car .  It is fantastic.  i'm glad we maxed out the injectors or who knows where it would end , at least the gear box is holding up at this power. 

Track day next and lets hope it all stays together.

sounds like an awesome swap.  Id seriously consider an engine swap on the cappo but it must remain a kei car or the tax and registration goes through the roof.  (>_<)

I know in Australia it makes very little difference to tax/reg with engine size,  whats it like in england?

to give you a comparison in Japan my s13 silvia is 2 litre and costs 40k yen a year in tax.

I have a kei work van (suzuki every with K6A turbo engine) which is registered as a commercial vehicle and is 4k yen a year. 10 times cheaper than the silvia and half as much as my 250cc motor bike in tax!!

Cappuccino comes in at 8k yen a year (same as my 250cc motor bike)

New cars in the UK are taxed on the emission level of CO2 per km, which is basically fuel economy. The rate goes from £0/yr to £435/yr.
Older cars (registered before March 2001) are just done on engine size; £125/yr under 1550cc and £205/yr over 1550cc.

However, if you reduce the engine size or emissions, they won't change the tax rate on the car. Not sure what happens if you increase the engine size though.

Insurance is affected by engine size as well, but not in any predictable way

Hi no cutting to the chassis required for this conversion just about fits. I had to slighly altered the subframe when i had the bike engine fitted but this had no bearing when fitting the swift engine .

Had a honda fireblade motor fitted but had some problems withthe prop drive and vibration (could not get the motor over to the left enough to get the prop down the middle) also the reversing box bearings had to be replaced nearly every drive out because of the viberation .Also the matter of doing 11,000 RPM in 6th gear at only 90MPH was a problem and that was with a 4.1 diff.

So if one should be lucky enough to stumble across a 1.3 GTI engine this conversion would not be a mammoth task?
Different engine mounts, a gearbox conversion plate and off you go? (brake mods aside)
