I was wondering that myself - as 1.3L swift turbo (and 1.0L sprint/firefly turbo) engines are not hard to find here... not that I want to rip out my f6a right now...

...though, considering how easy k6a parts are to come by (I've discovered yet another source - Cushman utility vehicles - not turbo though) I may eventually upgrade to a EA21R cappy...

Ok I have source myself a 1.3 swift engine, I also bought a somewhat scruffy but structurally sound cappuccino to put this engine in.
I will be more than willing to document the build, plus I will need all the help and advice I can get from everyone but particularly steven b!
It will be a low budget conversion, nothing fancy with no special order parts just standard stuff that where possible can be picked up from the scrappy. Also it will most likely be a slow conversion job due to budget and time constraints.

It Has been a sad day today  i have at last found the breaking point for the cappoccino gearbox . After about 1200 miles of 200 bhp and more importantly 197 Bl of torque it went bang in 3rd at max torque the only good thing is now i can fit (over the winter) the stronger suzuki jimny box i have and the cosworth diff and with box and the diff done a bit more power will be extracted  tho not that it needs it but when you can why not !

Ahah, I was in fact recently wondering how come it was holding out with so much power (and torque, of course) during a conversation about standard gearbox limits

Well, good luck with the new box. Do you expect to modify a lot of things to make it fit ?

I tryed the gearbox in the tunnel back along and it only just fits so i think there will be a small mod to the tunnel more so the get the exhaust in it as for the cosworth diff there will be a lot of work but it will take all the power i can throw at it .

Alright.

By the way, do you fit the cosworth diff because you don't have choice with the Jimny gearbox or because you fear yours isn't going to hold out ?

What will the jimmy gearbox ratios be like? Will they suit a racing engine I wonder? I just got my gti engine yesterday so the long road begins for me!

Hi im fitting the cosworth diff for two reasons one is it is very strong and lsd and the other is it is easy to get and change the diff ratio .with the jimny box and a 5.1 cappo diff it will top out at only 106 mph @ 7000 rpm( although mine is 4.1 so 131 mph)  but with the 3.62 cosworth diff it will be more like 145 @ 7000 rpm.

The 2wd Cossy diff is physically bigger (generally referred to as a 7 & half inch) than the 4wd (7 inch), and the 4wd is going to be plenty strong enough for you. You also find the same diff in the 2.8 and 2.9 XR4x4 and 4x4 Ghia and GLS models. However, if you are lucky and can find a 2.0 DOHC XR4x4 they have 3.89 final drives. I say lucky because the Cosworth rally boys tend to use the 3.89 diffs if they can find a pair so they get hoovered up quickly when they do come along.

Might also be worth looking at the freelander diff, they are a bit crap (at least they are in a freeloader) but they are light, cheap and plentiful. Ratios differ depending on year.

What do you have to do to get the engine in properly? Anything abnormal?

Granted, more than a bit selfish on my part, but I am starting to walk down this path and since no one in Japan has done this and so many people cannot even imagine that this is possible.....

Read through this thread several times... Very seriously thinking about doing this conversion here in Japan.
I have a great Japanese drag racing mechanic who is always doing crazy engine swaps. (He built a cappy with a RX7 engine) I would like to keep it all Suzuki and more reliable than a rotary.

If I sum this up properly
The G13B engine fits in to the engine bay with very little modifications ( Engine mounts?)
The bell housing from the G13B fits to the cappuccino and to a Jimny tranny. Jimny is stronger?
-- Gears different? Will it change the top speed??
I have a Suzuki Sport LSD already - Good??

Thank you in advance for the information

Meanwhile..the availability of G13B DOHC engines has declined a lot, and therefore prices are rising. If you can get a good engine for cheap and most importantly, if you can prove where it came from, do it.

The fact that the G13 is now more rare than ever is true. I've simply given up. Either a K12 or a M16 will be the only ways to go forward, realistically, in the future.

Get a g16 block and put a g13 head on it. Then fit the entire engine into the car
