Temperature gauge not working. (currently 182 views) |

Long story short, my alternator belt was way too slack and i ran out of battery power, and of course could't keep power to drive 20 miles home on a Friday night... Now I've managed a short term fix of adjusting alternator position(I do need a new belt very soon though!), and everything is back to normal other than the temperature gauge is't working now.
Does anyone have any ideas on what could be causing this? Or had a simaler problem?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions! |

The temperature gauge sensor is in the side of the manifold just above the alternator, it's possible you could have knocked the wire off when you were adjusting the belt tension. |

Yep he's right, its a yellow wire with a clear jelly bullet receptacle on the end. Hopefully you've just pulled it off. |

Did just have a look and turns out it was that! Was still plugged in but must have been knocked just enough for it not to work.
Was't sure if it'd have been from where where the car conked out and needed jump started, blown a fuse or something else! And having moved from a commute to work which was all driving to now mostly sitting in traffic better safe than sorry!
Thanks!
