The Cappo passed it's MOT today but the MOT tester said there was oil misting on the front shocks so seals must be tired and will only get worse.  It was an advisory but I think I will get the job done this summer.  I tried the usual car parts websites but as usual they don't seem to list the Cappo.  Where I put the reg no into the search it didn't find any shocks either.  Does anyone know where I can get a pair of front shocks at a resonable price please?  I'm probably after something fairly standard rather than top spec racing shocks.

You could do all four corners and get coilovers?

It sounds expensive.  Any ideas on cost?  It's only the front ones that are leaking.

Thanks for the suggestion Lord.  It's too expensive for me - I've got two daughters at Uni.  Apart from that it's my wife's car and she's not into pushing it to the limit.  It's also 100% UK standard car - apart from my home made battery clamp.  I am sure there must be a similar front shock for which I could buy a quality replacement (maybe a Spax adjustable or similar) and get the top plate modified.

I could, of course, just buy from Suzuki.  Haven't got a price yet but that's the next thing I'll try.  I've got a year until the next MOT!

I have these KYB dampers fitted to my cappo.  They're not noticeably harsher than the standard dampers, accept the standard springs, and the price is pretty good:

I would recommend replacing the rubber gaiters / bump-stops at the same time.  I didn't and my original gaiters disintegrated within a year - now need to strip everything down again to replace them

Oh, just noticed you are only really looking for the fronts.  I would strongly suggest replacing all 4 at the same time to preserve the balance of the car, and because keeping the rear tyres in good contact with the road is particularly important!

Thanks Chris.  I found quite a few local suppliers in my area of KYB shocks so will be contacting them to see if they can supply the front shocks.  I think I'll leave the rear shocks alone as the MOT tester didn't find anything wrong with them.  The car has only done about 35000 miles so there's probably nothing wrong with them.

KYB Europe don't have a listing for the Cappo the only place you can get those KYB SR-specials from is Japan. The options on new ones in the UK are very limited not sure you can even get them from Suzuki at the moment. There are two second hand ones on eBay, but they aren't cheap given the condition they are in.

Thanks for the advice everyone.  I phoned round UK suppliers but none could get the front shocks.  So I've ordered them from Nengun in Japan.  Total price £187 delivered which I didn't think was too bad.  I must admit that I didn't try Suzuki dealers.  Anyway, they should be here in about 7 days.  I think I will get clobbered for some VAT / Import duty but not sure how much.

The Japanese supplier seems to list just one part number for the front shock so I'm assuming they are not handed.  The part description certainly doesn't specify nearside or offside.  Having ordered two I have emailed them to clarify this but can someone put my mind at rest in the meantime?  It's probably the middle of the night in Japan at the moment so it may be some time before I get a reply!

Thanks Andy.  It was the part number that made me wonder - NSF9027.  It seemed like it might stand for 'Near Side Front'.  I'm thinking about replacing the coil springs now.  I'm sure they will be the original ones from 1995.  I'm going to have to do some research on life expectancy etc.  I'm not sure if their performance decreases much over a couple of decades.

They tend to sag over the years but, more importantly, the coating flakes and rust sets in then they snap...

James Heath, I know from the Facebook page will have some standard ones for sale, as I'm selling him a full set and he only needs the rear ones

My KYB shock absorbers arrived from Japan yesterday.  They look really good and luckily I didn't get clobbered for any import duty or VAT.  I won't be replacing them until the summer so will try to see if I can get some new springs if they're not too expensive.  I've had a quick look online but haven't found any yet.  If anyone knows where I can get a pair please post details here.  Cheers.

Thanks Andy.  I did check Ebay but didn't find these springs.  Maybe that's because they misspelt Cappuccino!  Just over £20 each seems reasonable.

Yeah it always pays to check for misspelt listings
