I had a good weekend at Snetterton, considering that my car really doesn't suit the 200 circuit layout with its long straights. I qualified 5th, but there was only 0.25 seconds covering the four places from 3rd to 6th. Two of the cars should have been quicker but one had tyre issues and the other had brake issues. In the race the Holden that was behind me got past so I was 6th, and last, at that point. I was gradually eeking away at the BMW's lead and eventually passed him on the brakes going into the hairpin, and that's how the race finished, in 5th the same as I started.

The second race had us with a dilemma over tyre choice because it had been raining and the track was still pretty wet with few cars running to help dry it out but it was drying slowly and rain didn't look imminent. Everyone else chose wets but I went for slicks, the thinking being that if it dried up I could improve my place and if it didn't I'd still be where I started, 3rd in class A1. I'd just have to be careful not to throw it off in the meantime. Also, if I had gone for wets they'd be ruined by the drying track.

Anyway, I had to take it steady for a while and dropped a place to 6th as the BMW I beat in the first race got past me. As the race went on it became obvious it was getting too dry for wets and my tyres started to have some grip, though I had to be very careful even on the dry bits when they developed because the damp bits kept taking the heat from my tyres and cold tyres don't grip of course. The first car I passed was Peter Challis' Porsche 997 Cup, then the Holden, then the wide-bodied 997 Cup of Simon Deaton and the BMW of Andy Robey and off I went after the Mitsubishi-Evo of Peter Cook, which I passed a lap or two from the end to take the overall win and fastest lap, which was nice. The reaction of the marshalls and spectators had to be seen to be believed, everyone showing their appreciation with some even jumping up and down punching the air with both hands, it looked like they enjoyed it even more than I did! Very happy with that result on what must be my weakest track.
