Changing a headlight, taillight or indicator bulb

The UK and JDM spec cars differ slightly in where the bulbs are located and are listed below separately.

UK spec

The sidelights in the UK spec Cappuccino are located in the bumper indicator housing.  To change the sidelight or indicator simply remove the screw and withdraw the unit.  You will now see the two connectors which you simply twist to remove.

The headlights are slightly more difficult but certainly not 'dealer only'.  The main beam bulb (H1 type) can be removed from inside the engine bay.  The dipped beam bulb (H3 type) is slightly more difficult and involves removing the 'front fender lining'.  There are a series of fasteners to remove and then simply pull the lining from inside the arch.  You can just remove the ones to the front of the lining and pull it back out of the way if you prefer.

To remove the side indicator bulb it is easier to take the repeater unit from the car first.  The cover then needs to be removed carefully to allow access to the bulb.

JDM spec

As above, in the main, but the sidelights in the Jap spec cars have the side light mounted in the main light unit instead of the indicator unit.  To change this bulb you will need to remove the entire headlamp unit.  There is one bolt on top and three nuts to the rear to undo.  One nut is again accessible from the engine bay, the other two are behind the wheel arch lining.

The side repeater bulb seems to be accessible by taking the unit from the car and by removal of the connector from the back of the unit.

To replace the bulb in the centre, high level brake light you need to remove the centre 4 (out of 6) screws from the rear window garnish. You may want to lift the rear window past the rear hoop to give you more room. It's a tight fit but it does go. Once you have done this the rear garnish can be hinged upwards revealing the centre brake light and its two retaining screws.

The rear lights are much easier to change.  First open the boot and unscrew the two screws, one on the top edge and one on the lower inside corner. Withdraw the light unit and simply twist the connectors and withdraw the bulb.

The fog and reverse lights are attached from the rear.  You will need to unbolt the unit from the car and remove the cover.

The number plate lights are secured by a single screw.
