There are 11 different codes given by the system 9 of which could be the reason for the light coming on.

To find out which one is triggering the light you will need to read off the code.  This is done by connecting a jumper wire within the connector under the bonnet and counting the flashes outputed by the check engine light.  This must be done without turning the ignition off.  With the Cappo the codes are not stored in memory and so are cleared when the ignition is killed.

Codes are as follows (codes are represented by flashes so 12 (normal) is shown by 1 flash, short pause, 2 flashes. Codes are then repeated)

12 - Normal (A/C off)
13 - Oxygen sensor
14 - Engine coolant temperature sensor (ECT sensor)
21 - Throttle position switch (idle switch)
22 - Throttle position switch (idle and WOT switch)
23 - Intake air temperature sensor (IAT sesnor)
24 - Vehicle speed sensor (VSS sensor)
31 - Manifold absolute pressure sensor (MAP sensor)
41 - Ignition signal
42 - Camshaft position sensor (CMP sensor)
56 - Normal (A/C on)

With the check engine light on connect a jumper between pin B (diagnosis switch terminal - this is the pin to the right of the blank in the connector) to pin D (ground terminal - this is the pin below the blank)

The manual also states that rogue displaying of the light is most likely caused by a connector issue.
