If you want to remove the 140 kph limit in an easy way I made really good experiences about 3 years ago. I delimited my own and 6 other german Cappuccinos with a speedo converter bought on ebay-UK. Today there are lots of auctions offering these speedo converters. This device is about 2cm x 1cm and about 0.5cm thickness. It has 4 (sometimes 5) wires and works very easy. You have to cut the red-violett wire and connect the yellow wire of the speedo converter as "signal in". Next is to connect the grey wire as "signal out". To finish you have to connect the red wire as "+" and the black wire as "-" (I used + and - from the cigarette lighter). When installed, the signal from the speed sensor is divided by 1.6 (kilomters to miles). As a result the Cappuccino is still restricted, but now at 140 mph and not at 140 kph. There is no warning light (engine check) as the ECU still receives data. If you want to convert your Cappuccino back to the original specification just remove the speedo converter.
I did not have any problems with this in 3 years and about 18.000 miles in my Cappuccino.
Best regards

Yes, the device shown on ebay is absolutely ok. My Cappuccino is also a UK car (all German Cappuccinos, about 100 came to Germany in 1994, were UK specification) already in MPH.

I fitted mine inside the ECU so as not to alter the wiring loom and make it easily reversable with an ECU swap. JFYI..... |

Thanks for this Hans I've used one of the speedo convertors with no issues
works a treat - top tip
also I powered it by tapping into the ECU ground and Vbat wires -seems to work just fine |

No. Will only change what the ecu sees. Not what it shows on the clocks |

Unless you want it too of course in which case you can delimit and have a 140MPH speedo. It just depends on where you position it. |

Surly if you wanted it to read on the speedo as well you would need two speed delimited? Or do you just wire the output of the delimit to both clock and ecu?? Ta |

As far as I know Andy is absolutely right: depends on where you position it. The red-violett wire coming from VSS (VehicleSpeedSensor) is splitted with one end going to the ECU and one end going to the speedometer. If you just want to delimit position the speedoconverter AFTER "splitting point", if you want to delimit AND 140 MPH speedo position speedoconverter BEFORE "splitting point".
I am not good in electronics, so I do not know what happens to the speedometer concerning distance. The speedometer reduces the received signals by 1.6, perhaps the distance will also be reduced by 1.6??? If so, you have a distance of 100 miles recorded when you actually did 160 miles.
Please excuse my poor way of describing things and feel free to contact me for further information if needed |

You would only want to do both if you had a KPH speedo so the distance travelled will be converted from KMs to Miles after the swap. |

That comment was aimed at the 100 miles instead of 160 miles comment suggesting someone might do it on an MPH car |
