An indicator bulb as failed in the instrument cluster.  I can partially remove the instrument surround, but cannot remove it completely, as the wiring to the rear window heater switch is preventing it from moving very far.
How do I gain access to the switch wiring, or can the switch be disconnected from the surround?

It is cable tied under the dash.  You need to cut that which will then let you bring the wiring plug out of the dash so you can disconnect it.

How do I get to the cable tie?  I cannot get the dash out, and cannot see where the wiring comes from.

You have to get your head in the footwell and look up behind the dash I'm afraid.

Thanks for your help.  Eventually I managed to slacken the screws holding the instrument cluster in place, and then released the wiring that was trapped behind it.
Refitting the connector blocks was a bit tricky, but all is now working.
