The Honda S800 is well known in the UK. The Toyota 800 sports is more rare. |

Indeed they did and a little orange twin cylinder hatch back thing too. My dad came home in one years ago and announced this is future. We all fell about laughing . I wish i had it now ..... |

Honda also had the "City". A small 2 door with a 1 litre motor. They also had a turbo version which is the only turbocharged car Honda ever made. |

Honda also did a turbocharged Z (the 90's version, not the one from the 70's).
It had a turbocharged E07 engine (same basic family of engines as the Beat). Unfortunately it's not very sporty (it's a sort of rear engined mini 4x4 kei car).
The engine is a good donor for beat conversions.

Fiat and Abarth both did small sportscars.
The 850 Coupe or Roadster for example.
The X/19 is a more modern candidate.
My favorite is the Abarth Zagato 750gt, but I am biased because I am restoring one.

You forgot the lotus elise s1.
Now if we are going for the ultimate in lightweight it is hard to beat the spartan Ducati power car. If I remember right there were two versions a track and street legal version.
