I don't really use PayPal much due to fees etc and prefer to use bank transfers where possible.

I have supposedly been sent a payment via PayPal for some items I am selling, the payment was sent around 1900hrs last last night but nothing has shown I'm my account.

Is this normal? I have asked for a transaction reference or screen shot for my piece of mind but just wondered if anyone who uses PayPal more often could advise?

Thanks

It should appear pretty much instantaneously.  Ask the person to check what email they have sent it to as 9 times out of 10 it will be a mistake with that.  The sender can cancel the payment and resend at any time.

Drop me a PM if you would like to be added to the ClubCappo Member Map.  More details can be found here.

Thanks Andy, will ask them to double check the address,

The sender has said it can take 2-3 days to show up but I can't see why from reading the PayPal page

No reason for that whatsoever.  The whole point of PayPal is that it's instant payments...

Should add there is the echeque method which does take time to clear but you would still be notified immediately if this method has been used.  Just like a normal cheque it takes 3-4 days for the funds to clear but they would still show in your PayPal account as uncleared.

Its possible that the funds weren't available to be drawn, if that's the case the sender could assume it has gone through, but may have received an email from a different paypal address which gets dumped into his junk file.

If the transaction is successful they would've received a mail saying payment sent which they can always forward to you.
