Well the OH's old Corsa died a few weeks ago - the floor pan had more rot in it than a pprly maintained cappo!!! So she's got a new toy - apparently the factory description of the colour is lipstick red (I'd have called it dildo pink ) but I just cant believe toyota would actually produce a car this colour!!!

It didn't actually come out of the factory that faded.

From what I've seen most Toyota reds do this.

Looks more like Frenchletter Pink to me...

My wife had a Fiat Cinquecento sport that did that.  Took me hours with the T Cut to get it anwhere back like looking normal before we sold it.

Perhaps knowing that the plastic parts would go pink they deliberatly used a paint for the metal work that would fade at a faster rate to match.

I'm glad Suzuki didn't think like that.

red cars only go pink when exposed to air and sunlight.  If you keep your car waxed, the air doesn't get to it.  Faded paint is a sign of poor maintenance.  Clear coat also keeps the air away from the colour coat which is why metallics don't fade.

I think everyone knows what causes it but some paints are more prone to severe fading than others though.  I was told it was down to how much of certain colours are used in the mixing of the paint.  I think it was something to do with how much blue is used but can't remember which way round it goes

Apart from the lower rear bumper, which is doing a remarkable imitation of 'cappo wing mirror pink', the colour on the rest of the car is remarkabley consistent - even the dorr inners ect that never see the sun. Either it's a colour that just fades no matter what it's exposed to or this is the original colour - I might have to buy a can from paints4u just to find out

^ lol! I'm getting used to it now, and I'm starting to quite like it too. Dosn't mean I'm going to start driving it though, or rushing out and re-painting the AZ-1 to match
