Hi guys

Not in the habit of sending things like this But.........

SSAFA are in the process of purchasing a house near Headley Court to allow next of kin to stay for short periods of time to visit their relatives, injured servicemen, undergoing treatment at the Defence medical rehabilitation centre (DMRC).
Local residents have made an objection. Please have a look at the press reports.
If you would like to support SSAFA and injured servicemen and there families, please consider signing the petition.

I am a civilian Occupational Therapist who works with these servicemen at Headley Court, (many of which have had serious injuries, including amputation) and I know how much they appreciate contact with their families and how beneficial it can be to their treatment. A new 30 bed ward has just been opened to manage an increasing numbers of casualties, which means this facility is needed even more.

Please feel free to pass this on to anyone else you feel would like to support this cause

Cheers

Dekker

As an ex servicewomen & my hubby still serving.....SIGNED! Makes you laugh when you read that the objections are
Quoted Text
They claimed 'additional noise' and 'huge amount of additional traffic' would ruin the peace of the private lane and warned that the value of their multi-million-pound properties would plummet.

The families 'would not be welcome', they said, and their arrival could 'destroy the character' of the area

But it's ok for our servicemen to be maimed so long as it doesn't interfer with them!!

Nice to see patriotism is dead !!!!!

Arrrrgggggghhhhhhhhh

The truth is somewhat different to the way the objectioners tell it isn't it.

I came in on this story half way through on the news the other night: as I'd missed the very beginning, and just heard about the rejections, I assumed they were referring to a re-hab clinic, young offenders site, asylum seekers hostel or something.

Couldn't quite believe what it actually was.  Still, it's worked out O.K. by the sound of it: unamnimous vote in favour, plus the objecting locals very much shown up as the sort of people they are.

May they slowly rot in hell ....

My God it's tragic is it not. It's the guys stuck in Afghanistan that I feel for. Those Taliban fighters are real tough cookies - ask any Russian!

and it's not getting any easier for our lads in either place. In Afganistan they know they will be shot at !!! In Iraq they are peace keeping and don't expect it !!! Which is the worst tour of duty? Bring our lads home
