So then, being a total sucker for shiny things that I can install onto my beloved Cappo, I simply could not resist buying the latest creation from 660 Engineering (aka Steve off of here).
The airbox incorporates a K&N panel filter that is much larger filter than the standard unit (from a ford focus I believe), and also draws the air in directly without using the restrictive pipe that the stock filter uses, the aim being to simply let the engine suck in more air
The item arrived promptly and very well packaged, upon opening I was very impressed with the build quality, very solid and well put together and of course, nice and shiny .
The installation was very easy, and coming from a mechincal retard like myself, that is saying something. Installation involved removing the restrictive plastic stock air filter housing and pipe and sloting in the new unit, a total of 4 screws to take out, and three to put in, tighten the hose clamps and job done. The fit was perfect.
Before
After!
Half an hour in all to remove old/install new, and that could be done much quicker by someone who actually knows what they are doing!
Obviously I had to take the beast for a drive immediately after the box was installed. Wow, this thing is worth buying for the noise alone!!! All turbo noises and now significantly louder and are also accompanied by noises that weren't audible before (but in a good way ). I now have some quite awesome wastegate chatter going on to completement the much louder spool up noise and abv pssssst noise, to sum it up, the car now sounds like Darth Vader with a cold (again, in a good way). Theoretically there could be some small power gains with this box as the car can breath more easily, not sure I noticed any, it certainly is much more fun to drive, and that is why we all own cappos is it not? Come rain or shine I am driving it to work tomorrow which is a 60 mile round trip, problem is, I don't thing that distance is going to be long enough
Some scores:
Build quality: 10/10 Value for Money 10/10 Installation 10/10 Awesomeness 11/10

Brilliant write up mate. Il second everything you have said. Especially the noise. Sounds like a jet engine has got stuck in the filter. iv noticed a +5-6mpg a well over stock. I just love it

Impressive, I shall have to counter that by increasing the boost

Thanks guys. Arc did a pretty good job of designing it all i did was change the filter size slightly. All other dimensions are true to the original . Ill have to make sure i have one to hand next time we have a rolling road day
Ive just about finished five sets of front and rear strut tower bars and then i'm making a bigger batch of the airboxes and one of those is yours Ricou
