This is the second 911 I've done. The first arrived four years ago as a LHD, chav-tastic, wide bodied, flat nosed monster, which I returned to a correct 1973, narrow bodied spec, and turned it into RHD:

Sorry, that last picture was a bit weeny!
Anyway, then did this TR4 which was written off in 1983, and had quietly rotted away until 2005. I ended up cutting the body from the chassis in two parts, before rebuilding the car:

Don't know what's happing with these pics! Anyway, then the current 911 appeared on the scene to replace the TR4.
Originally a LHD car, it was converted to RHD in the eighties, when it arrived in the U.K.
Having been used on tracks throughout Europe, and having been fitted with a fresh, tuned engine, it retired seven years ago, full of rust. This is how it looked B4 I started it:

This was in July of this year. The long-term plan is to do a bare-shell resto, but for now I just wanted it on the road. Therefore 1st job was to get it solid.
So less of this:

And off for it's MOT: barn to road in five 1/2 weeks very full time.
Interior still to do, but it's on the road and is being shaken down at the moment, longer term it'll come right apart and be done properly, but it's quite nice to have a car that I don't have to worry about so much, knowing that this is a tempory job:

Thanks all: unfortunately I've not had much of a chance to use it much since putting it on the road, although did finish it just in time for some Best Man duties at a 'Porsche' wedding: two friends that met via DDK-Online (early Porsche forum).
As they had met through the forum, and that was how I knew them, I was keen to show up in a 911, as there were quite a few there.
Gritter went up the road earlier ( > ), so that'll be that for a while now .

And someone came along with an offer I couldn't refuse: it goes at the end of this week.
So, as a consolation prize I decided to update my old BMW 325 TDS touring ....

.... with this 330i (E46) Touring which a friend was selling and really couldn't be bothered with actually doing much about it. It needed the mother of all clean-ups, and I need to re-furb the wheels, swap out the one-year only over-assisted steering rack, plus sort a sloppy gearchange (bushes).
On the other hand, 231 BHP, full light grey leather with sports seats plus a few other bits and bobs.
Frankly, I'm still not 100% sure about it, but it's gradually winning me over: I'll keep the old E36 for another couple of weeks though, just to be sure I've made the right decision.

BTW, now on the lookout for a 911 SC (204bhp model) or a 3.2 Carrera to backdate to an early car look. Over the years I've gathered many of the parts needed, and it would be good to replace the one that's just gone at some point.
So if anyone hears of a suitable project (preferably nice and rusty, with a nasty / missing interior) at the right price, let me know .

No, I think he's safe for now: just passed the MOT with no issues, and there's fresh tax on the screen, so we're good to go for another year.
My overall fleet strategy has been driven by the downturn in the economy: I was keen to return some cash into the bank, but still try to retain a flavour of what I had.
We all know the benefits a the Cappo, and from my own point of view, it's great for local journeys, and trips down the multitude of Sussex lanes around here.
On the other hand, the new(er) BMW is quicker than the Porsche in 0-60 and top speed, but returns (with my generally careful driving) 35 mpg, and is of course very comfortable as well. Ironically, I think it's also the least involving car I've ever owned . Still not 100% sure about it, but hopefully I'll grow to like it a bit more ...
Thanks for the comments on the resto's BTW: the full stories are here:
