Got this the other day for the up and coming winter, thought i'd get a sensible family car, this is as far as I was willing to go
Paid £960 for it on ebay, came with £30 of fuel and cheap to insure and OMG is it quick, booked 0 - 60 is under 7 secs and I can well believe it, kick the throttle the auto box drops down, head hits the rest and your doing 80, only bad thing is the fuel economy, but ive been saving fuel money with the cappo.

Nah, its a work horse and nothing special. After owning it for a few months now, I can definately say it is a very smooth, comfortable and thirsty b*gger. But it is without a doubt the worse car audi have ever made not for build quality although the usual faults have appeared namely the leaking sun roof, drivers door has dropped a few mill and the usual electrical fualts. But for the gearbox / transmission, audi invented the quattro and all my previous q's had a diff lock, a fantastic button you pressed and everything locked up enabling me to pull cars out've ditches and generally act like a dick in town with wheels spinning on mini roundabouts, this car however is missing that button and when i had to pull a truck off a grass bank in the rain the other day (something i would expect a V8 to easily do) it failed with wheels spining and the whole point of the 4wd IMO is lost.
Still i spose thye car was never intended for that.
I think there is a problem with the drivetrain, I have a '99 4WD Swift which has a viscous centre diff, it is told to be the worst and cheapest 4WD system available ever, and it also suffers from the lack of power compared to your a8, but I have no problem with accelerating on low grip surfaces (I actually beat anything in snow without 4WD and it is quite enjoyable even without LSD)...

There's nothing wrong with the car as such, its a design failiure. She drives perfectly and in standing water and low grip tarmac situations it behaves like all the other q's i've owned. The problem is that the gearbox is the first box audi designed from scratch and as such i think a few things were sacrificed. Must be something to do with gearbox reliability, you have a seriously torquey engine and seriously gripy wide tyres, somethings gonna let go if you decide to lock em up and launch.
I was speaking with a club member the other day and he mentioned something intresting. Next time touch the brake while pulling away, this should activate the ABS circuit which should act like a modern traction control system.
