Hello everyone, haven't been on this forum long but it seems great so far!
Here's some pics of my cappo I purchased a couple of days ago. I'm very happy with it so far!

nice...i saw pictures of it on carsales... looks like a good buy... and you gotta love how small it looks compare to a vt commo lol

Im just wondering is your car more of a silver or a goldish champain colour?

Thanks ThePorko, I think it looks more of a gold type champagne color. It was the one on carsales! Apparently it will be in 'Unique Cars' magazine in the next issue! Previous owner told me that when I picked it up. Remember the yellow cappo on carsales? It looked nice too - debadged, repainted etc but probably not quite as original as this one.
I like the look of MX5 and Ford Capri owners when they see me drive past - like 'there's an even smaller car than mine?!'

Looking good!  Is it a limited or special edition model?  Or is the dash kit an aftermarket addition?

I'm not 'up to date' with cappo models yet Andy (I'll check my vin and chassis numbers tomorrow). As far as I can see, my guess would be a standard model.

It has:

Adjustable steering column
Power windows & mirrors
Aircon
5 speed manual
Dash mounted tweeters
(I think) leather seats but they might be leatherette.

Only deviations from standard are my sports steering wheel and the gearknob.
It doesn't have power steering but I am used to cars without it anyway!

Cheers!

The things that would mark it out as not being a standard model are airbag (which you haven't got) PAS (same) ABS and an LSD.  Like you say the easy way of telling is by checking the numbers.

Oh should have said, the seats are leatherette and not leather unless they have been retrimmed.

EDIT
Just been reading through your list again and noticed you've got power mirrors.  Do these look like factory or aftermarket fitment?  I may be wrong, but I think factory electric mirrors were only available on the High Spec options list which also included air bag, anti-lock brakes and limited-slip differential.

I thought soo...you have the excate same colour as me ....yes i did see the yellow one however it didnt look in top condition... You gotta love the look people give especially when driving with the roof off....and non power steering easy to get use too especially since the car only weighs 700kg

Sounding interesting! I am pretty sure my power mirrors are standard, the switch for them is on the drivers side under the dash a bit. The switch is one of the ones where it's a square (to adjust position) and has the L & R switch in the middle of the square. Come to think of it though I think both wheels spun when I left my work driveway on Friday and that would indicate LSD. I'll have to jack it up and see which way the tyres turn on each side (to be sure).

Have to check that number tomorrow Andy. I bought a new stereo for it today, Mp3/Wma/Cd player with iPod interface - so I can control the iPod with the Head Unit.
Hoping to install it tomorrow!

Put the stereo in today and all seems to work well. The guy at the audio place stuffed me up though because the unit can't control the 1st iPods (like I have), only the 2nd or 3rd generation iPods onwards  >

Oh well I'll go and buy a newer one when I have the money!

Putting any single din radio is very easy, I was looking around at head units that had 'Aux in' or an iPod interface and the only ones at the shop I went to were Alpine, Kenwood and the Jvc (which had a 3.5mm line in plug on the face).
I went with the Kenwood  (KDC - MP4033S), which was a reasonable price and had CD, Mp3, Wma and could control the iPod with the inline adaptor (has remote). Took about an hour to put in since I haven't pulled apart the interior of cappo's before!

It is a bit of a pain having to dismantle the interior to fit the stereo behind the trim but does make for a neat and secure install.  I have seen Cappo's where the trim has been cut to allow the stereo to be fitted from the front, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Both of those are fine.  Double din units are basically double the size.  They were often fitted to Japanese cars but not the Cappo.  Ford use double din sized units too.

I wouldn't buy from Halfords though as they are usually very expensive.  I bought my Pioneer unit for about half the price of the High Street from Car Audio & Security http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/home.html

If you are after a particular make and model try using http://uk.shopping.com/ (formerly known as Dealtime) to find where is cheapest.

Mine seems original in that respect but almost every normal sized radio on the market will fit in the cappo's console - you just have to leave the faceplate surround off the front... The HU I had in before was about an inch deeper than the Kenwood HU I have in there now.

I'll have to search for some grey or black leather so I can sew up some sort of speaker enclosure for the 'parcel shelf' behind the front seats. When it's finished I'll put some pics up! I'd like to incorporate the amp and a small sub (probably JL Audio's unit which is two 6inch subs either end of a tube). Space is at a premium so I have to design it well!

Yep that's right.  The face plate is only used when a stereo is mounted from the front to cover the fixings.  As the Cappo has the radio fitted from behind these can't be seen anyway.

Went and bought some more audio gear for my cappo today (it's going to be a tight fit in such a small interior!). I bought one of the new iPod's (30 gig, colour screen) to replace the out of date one I tried last weekend - works fine this time!
I bought a Fusion equalizer too but I have to spend awhile planning the install. At this stage I need to find room for a 4ch coustic amp, the equalizer, focal 6" splits, a small 8" sub and the iPod (luckily it fits in the glovebox!)

Been a long time time since I bothered to update!
I put in tripple air horns a few weekends ago (pretty loud!) make s most people get out of the way or hurry up! Not a lot of room in the engine bay and they would look out of place there so I put them behind the front number plate

Today I started to do the rest of my stereo - I'll be putting the 4ch amp behind the front seat...
I took out the factory clarion dual cones and the tweeters in the dash to make room for my focal splits. As expected the speakers needed some modifications to allow them to fit...
I made up some spacers for the midranges' to bolt into the factory locations:

They were just some 3/4" thick plywood, some thin foam to go against the mounting surfaces to avoid vibrations and longer bolts...

The tweeter area had to be 'relieved' of some plastic so the bigger focal tweeter would fit (just!)

more to follow later!

Still going well with stereo but it's time consuming!
I replaced the front and rear grilles on the bumpers today with some chromed aluminium which is the same pattern as original... Gave it a lift I think!

Great number plate! lol  And I'm liking the 0.6l emblem on the spoiler.

Grille is looking very smart.  Shame clear indicator covers are so expensive as I think they would really give the front end a crisper, cleaner look.

Thanks Andy I was going to try and find a seperate 0 and 6 to make a badge but I couldn't find any at the wreckers.... I just cut some thick aluminium plate and filed & polished it afterwards so it came up like chrome! Lots of people say they like my numberplate! Mainly because capps are probably the most 'invisible' cars on the road - being so tiiny!

I agree on the indicators, they would suit the silver capp very well!
Need new back tyres soon, mine are down to the wear indicators and they are only 8 months old!

Well I have had a few 'minor' dramas with the cappo the last few months but nothing to worry about really in the big scheme of things...

Thanks to Andy I got some much-needed parts that I was missing!
They are a dash facia which I will be getting the carbonfibre look applied to in time but I couldn't really have no facia while I drove around for 2 weeks waiting for it!
An as new condition gearknob since mine kept rotating while I changed gears & would never fully tighten as it was stripped inside (and the grain had almost worn right off the top!)
A fog light- I like it to look a bit more symmetrical at the back...
Power window switch to replace the (homemade) toggle switch one that spat the dummy a few weeks ago! (perfect timing).
A driver's-side tailight - mine was looking permanently 'fogged up' and it bugged me!
A few other tiny clips and things too but they aren't fitted yet.

I modded those bullbar-ends and polished them up and fitted them too (I posted pics a few weeks ago of them). I think it looks pretty sporty now

note: Can I sue you Andy for the nest of minature spiders that stowed away in the tailight when you sent the parts over here?! They were going to become illegal immigrants!

Return to sender!

After a quick clean every thing came up like new - I even dismantled the fog light and washed the lens & seal! (gave the outside a 'brasso' so it was shiny!)

Have to save up to get this carbonfibre fil applied and I might even look at getting those other carbonfibre things from cappuccinosport (power window area and the rear view case).

I couldn't see the pics due to firewalls etc at work but I can now.  You certainly didn't waste anytime did you! lol

Have to say that having two lights does make all the difference to the back of the car doesn't it!  I think you were right to go for the fog light instead of another reverse light too!

How did you attach the hoops in the end?

Thanks Andy! I attached the hoops (only temporarily!) to the bolts on the seats, the seatbelt guides! I just wanted the look of them in there asap! I will be doing what Jaik said and bolting them to the seatbelt bolts later on eventually. They will never be 'real' roll bars that serve a purpose but I think they look a bit better than the triangular ones.

I will be busy over the summer break making the rear area of the interior better - mount the hoops properly, make the audio system look good and also decide which other parts I would like to buy!
