My 2nd capp came home today to be part of the family! At this stage I think he's fixable but will need a (smidgen!) of work before he is ok again I think he will have a colour change and a lot of hours spent over the next year or so!

Thought this was going to be a thread about my ex-car (silver one). Good purchase - looks like you don't need the roof panels now |

No, not sure what it happening with scubababe but hopefully everything is fine...
Bob, it was lucky I did get your roof panels as the left side of this one is dented! I can use my silver cappi's left roof insteadfor this one!

Marty is more than happy to have a look at your new baby CG to see how much plastic surgery (panel beating) is needed to have him looking brand new.....I'd better go find that nurses outfit .....G |

Sounds good! He is taken a few hard knocks but (I think!) he can be saved! Marty will have a much better idea Needs a new window on the side I might make one from perpex and a heatgun for the meantime though. Might see you on the weekend! |

If I lived where you are I probably would buy a clean shell but capps are pretty rare over here!
*goes to check wheel name*
They appear to be made by BBS (made in Korea cast into them aswell as licenced by BBS), The sticker says 'Special Design' for whatever reason! Maybe because whoever makes them got permission from BBS?

Would've hit the gutter sideways after losing control! He will be better in time (I can pull the bottom of the wheel outwards and it looks normal again but the spring & shock keep it on that angle!) |

You think? lol! The suspension mount has moved a little (top of shock but the tower itself is fine). I have to deflate the spacesaver and take it out so I can see everything properly! Bumper will just be replaced, new lower control arm - I think re-straightening it would be too much of a risk, new exhaust at back and the rest I will need to talk about with Marty! It can be put on a jig and pulled into line as needed
Good luck with the wheel search ozziee! |

I'd say all of the control arms will need replacing. The lower suspension bolt looks at a funny angle, not sure if that part of the knuckle is bent or if the bush is just being twisted. The joint on the upper wishbone might have seen too much action too. Wonder if the driveshaft survived ok. Like you say once you start dismantling hopefully everything will become clearer. |

I think 6inch would be pushing it with matching tyres but by lipping the guards and/oror low profile tyres you might get away with it ozziee. I'll post some more pics tomorrow but yeah more than likely I will have to replace a few odds and sods! |

It actually gave me peace of mind to see how a capp 'coped' with a bad smash from sideways and behind. I might chuck my spacesaver back in for extra protection (Maybe they should be called 'Lifesavers' in capps!)

I did some work on Smashie today, Took off the rear bumper - polished the headlights and tailight with brasso so they looked new again... I removed the lower control arm and tried to straighten it a little so the wheel can go back on without being on an angle! I decided to try my luck repairing the rear bumper using a heatgun (being polypropelene PP), it actually is pulling into shape after I heat it and let it set in original form again... Might do me until I can get a real bumper!

Forgot to mention, the reason Smashie is 'smashed' is that his previos owner lost contol of him and he hit a house?! Survived pretty well! |

After I took it out there was an indentation of it in boot wall! I have replaced all the fuses, sorted out most of the wiring and repaired the passenger mirror (need new mirror piece though!). It has been suggested to me that I should just weld in new pipes for the bent control arms, makes sense but I am not good enough a welder to take it on myself! |
