hey all, just an FYI;
i've decided on a name for my new pride and joy, Reddy! - because she's always ready to go hehe.

had a quote at MOTORTEC UK (details supplied on demand) for approx £225 to repaint the pannels and do the work nessesary for make reddy red again!
will have the worst pannels done this coming Monday the 11th;

might have the bonnet looked at as all thats missing is the lakker over the base coat, which is where the shine comes from (tis what he says anyway!)

£225 - can't argue with that!

can't wait!!

They should take care of all that.  Don't bother washing and waxing as that will have to be stripped right back off for them to paint.  My advice would be to hand it over and then run before you see them attacking it with the rough stuff!

What a pain, Chris! Did they scratch it? If so then they should sort it out. Report it to them ASAP.

now the worse bits are as new again, all the other stuff looks out of whack! specially the bonnet, best start saving to get bonnet re-done!!

am taking her by the place this morn to get checked out. him thinks it might have been when they polished it off - may have been a bit of grit in the cloth or something. what a royal pain!

fantastic job elsewhere though, although i think they managed to cock up the boost gauge as its stuck all the way at max boost constantly, and my fuel gauge seems to be empty dispite me filling her up just days before (only 10 miles clocked since they had it) .... hmmmmmm

Yep they look to have done a nice job there!  Shame the colour match to the doors is off too or you could have got away with not having them resprayed.

it doesn't show much at full image size though - does the thumbnail exaggerate it?

Much better, nice to see her being taken care of

With the boost gauge, it sounds like a dodgy sensor wire connection. There will be a computer PSU-style molex connector behind the plastics around the dash (up above your legs when you're driving) which is where I would suspect the dodgy connection will be as it's the only connection point for that wire. I didn't have a proper crimping tool when I installed it so it was needle-nose pliers all the way. If that's not it then it could be a broken wire :S

i'll check it out.
could do with a full proper service and get everything checked by a seasoned professional tbh but its finding the doh-ray-me

the trip meter seems to have failed, along with the odeometer! oh dear! so for the time being its stuck at just over 80.6k miles - is that legal?? eek

Yep the speedo and odometer are linked.  It's perfectly legal as long as you don't claim the mileage showing to be genuine.

Has the speedo stopped working again too? If so then it's the connection I told you about under the carpet behind the driver's seat that has a bad connection.

Tracking down the problem with the trip/odo? If so then they only work when the speedo's working, that's why I asked.

There's a picture of the connector for the speedo on my album somewhere

I tried a little lectrical contact clenaing spray and it worked great for a while, but was playing up the last time I took it out again.

As far as I know you must display the number plates both front and rear of any car produced after 1st Jan 1973 - it's only bikes that can display only 1 on the back

I was planning to make a plate that's spring loaded so that at speed it sits horizontally, and at rest it's vertical - could even do it with solenoids & have a switch (or make it automatic above 30mph) - for show purposes only of course

They're not legal either, but you could use a stick on plate like on e-types
