Plus you say excluding parts - I presume that's extra parts and not the oil, filters, plugs etc?

Plus it can be quite rewarding doing it yourself, especially with items like oil/coolant/filter/plugs/leads changes that are fairly straightforward - it's a good feeling when you've just done a full service, you know no corners have been cut, and the car is ready for it's next x-thousand miles due to your handiwork.

Leads should be fine on Reddy, Magnecor KV85s fitted about 10k ago. Likewise the cambelt was done about 15k ago so will be fine.

good advice guys.
I'm going to give special instructions for them to just replace anything & everything they can thats cheap, IE belts & leads etc etc.

As for doing it myself, yes i most definantly want to!!
but with this Millau road-trip coming up in just a few weeks i would just be constantly worried if i'd done it right. so this year, its being done by the good folks at my local garage!

More news on Reddy;
have just done a round trip of 506.9miles (to exmouth and back), used 46.03litres of the old 93octane, giving an average of about 50mpg and thats going a constant 4500 to 5000rpm in 5th gear. cant believe it!!
staying on the same subject, my knee really hurts

Don't get the leads changed Chris as they are very expensive magnecor ones on at the moment and they will replace them with cheap tat!  Cheap belts tend to make a lot of noise too.

Well you could order a genuine alternator belt from CappoSport or Suzuki-Shop and have them fit it   Also is the air filter a normal paper one or did Jaik put a K&N in there?

haven't seen a K&N but i know for fast they're not always obvious, haven't actually looked for that either which can't help

Whilst i remember!
when i went down to exmouth, i found that after about 80mph, my boost dropped from +12 to about +6 suddenly as if it was being interfered with!
is this the ECU doing that or something like that?? is was really annoying, i was trying to keep up with a Lambo Gallardo!! (or however it's spelt)

Could well be the speed limiter - cuts one cylinder out above a certain speed - need jaik to tell us if it's been delimited really.

I've got a new sill for Ron on its way from Dany, so will be welding that in when it arrives - probably a couple of weekends time. Also have a hole to weld up in the floor of Eazi. Also have a load to do on Sulki (whole transmission tunnel) - may take a day off work to do the lot (and only get one done - that's the usual way)

The K&N is a direct replacement for the original so you would have to open up the air box and look.  Or let Jaik tell us

The limiter cuts injectors one and two (1st and 2nd cylinders).  If the speedo is working again then so will the limiter.

Doh! so i've sorted 1 problem and got another!
not fair as the speedo is about 10mph out at "90"mph (satnav says 82mph)

probably more along the lines of welding then Kronenbourg - mixing the two may end up with some strange fabrications.

Yep, alternator belt could be replaced, but cam belt and plug leads are all fine There is a K&N panel filter in there and I gave Chris a practically new original paper part.

Well done on the MPG Worst I managed was about 47, best was about 38

There's a few good roads round the moors in bolton - near belmont etc, or the flat bits between the m6 and the sea north of skelmersdale.

I'd be getting the alternator belt replaced sooner rather than later (if you haven't already!).

Mine decided to snap on a burst of acceleration and took the aircon belt with it!

You could see if your local Suzuki dealer has one in stock.  With the risk of repeating myself are you sure you want to replace the high quality and expensive HT leads that are already on there?  There shouldn't be anything wrong with them to be honest.

Tried Suzuki themselves? Levois in Essex and Colin Appleyard in Ashton have both been excellent for parts for me before.

Like Andy's mentioned again, it's not worth replacing the HT leads, the ones on it are relatively new (certainly won't have worn out or anything) and are higher quality than the standard ones.

Well Suzuki recommend replacing the original leads at 48,000 miles or every 4 years so yes unless the leads are actually faulty then it does sound like they are trying to pull a fast one.

Like Andy said, unless there is an actual fault or physical damage to them then they are fine. Do you know if they actually checked them? If so, how did they ascertain that they needed replacing?
