...and the bumper is now all patched up and ready to go back on , just in time for the Devon Car Show this weekend.

Paints4u did a perfect job of matching the colour, I just wish I hadn't been so tight and I'd bought enough to do the whole bumper- blending in metalic paint is nigh on impossible, well it is for me, may have to redo it later

, use a bit of compound to litely blend out those straight lines and you wouldn't notice the repair.

These arrived today from japan courtesy of SolDave just a shame they didn't get here in time for the 'spring is in the air' photo contest.

will try and get them fitted this weekend, weather permitting.

Now fitted and after a very sedate drive home today, (blown seals in the turbo) I've come to the conclusion that if every car on the road had suspenion this stiff we wouldn't need urban speed limits - the state of the roads is enough to stop you speeding.

But on the smoother twisty bits the car is just so much sharper

Yeah stiff supension can be a right pain in the a*se sometimes and back.

I've come to a similar conclusion in London, i think the councils figure that if they lower the speed limit to 20mph then they wont have to repair the roads as everyone will be driving at a speed capable of dealing with the huge pot holes etc.

Nice replacement struts Don What kind of spring rates are they, if you don't mind me asking? I'm looking to do my suspension soon but I'm thinking of upping things by perhaps only 10-15% as the roads around here are less than perfect.

brett, Sorry I haven't a clue on the spring rates, all I can say is they are VERY stiff! Jack up a rear wheel and both wheels on that side are up in the air, jack up a front and both fronts are clear of the ground.
Best thing about them is that they are about 12mm less than standard in diameter - leaves room for 195 tyres (see the next post)

Some familier wheels in new surroundings - I'll post up some proper pics when my new wheel nut turn up (these are just chrome plastic covers) and I've cleaned the car. But I think they really suit the car - thanks again steve!

Brett - re: spring rates - I *think* these were 5kg fronts and 3.3kg rear - mildly uprated ones are 2kg front and rear...

Nice one Don they suit the car perfectly. It looks tough as  I like the blacked out indicators too. Works really well with silver.

Ah Don.... Don't think those will be helping you to beat me round Japfest next year do you???  I feel a rematch coming on!

Looking good though - and there looks to be a little more tread on those tyres than last time I looked

^ lol I'm keeping my old wheels with their NEW trackday tyres for trackdays. These are for general driving - they're a lot more comfortable for everyday use, I think the sidewalls are not as stiff so the ride is a much better.

Can't you make Japfest2, there's a few of us going round on that one?

Very nice indeed

Do they catch inside the wheel arches on full lock at all?  It looks close!

Hey Don,

Can't make Japfest 2 - I will be in sunny Itheca (the Greece one - the missus tells me there are two spellings!) But I will be thinking of my cappo whist relaxing with a pina-colada and some fried Haloumi... And obviously feeling my arteries seizing up...

Take some pics and post em.

I'm still waiting for the pics of the cars round Japfest 1!!!! Sigh...

Have fun!

Parcel from japan today - I've been waiting to get one of these for over a year (thanks to a well known (non)supplier of parts we all know and love) Now I can finally get round to fitting my refurbished turbo. Should just have time to get it done before Japfest2.

Hmmm... A few years ago I rebuilt two Stromberg carburettors on my kitchen table. The better half was in attendance, but you could cut the tension with a knife. A garage has since been erected.
