excellent job! I like it shows it's easier to remove both camshafts, with cogs attached, if you want to change the rocker cover seals

Yeah defiantly easier to take them off in one go. My friend is currently referbing a bmw straight 6 325i engine. To get the valves on that the camshafts have to removed by using a special tool. This is due to them being pretty hard brittle metal, them being about 2ft long and the pressure for the valve springs. He didnt believe me when i said i could take my cam covers off with the cams still inside, lol.

What are you using to clean the parts?  They are coming up like new!

mac man, camshafts have to be taken off with tool cos they break if you dont do it right, camshafts are hollow. is a 24v beemer ur on about? alloy block 6pots had some probs, major probs with the alloy threads in the block pulling out when trying to retorque head bolts... you can actually get the cams back in without the tool, just gotta know what your doing. I have a few times to success taking off the cams on the cappo is ok doing that method in one section but i think it would be more fiddly putting back on- i preferred putting them back on individually as cleanliness is a must when changing the cam seals.
