You can see just how far it will intrude onto the 'Centre Section'. |

............and from the top to show how much they encroach into the Centre. Just have to reinforce inside edges, then it's onto the paint. |

I did notice that by having them on the angle, inner Volume is less( this is what gives you the Optimum Sound for your speaker), so in order to increase this, I will need to bring the 'Ring'...Front Face, further forward, which may or may not affect the seating position, but I suspect not..............Modification coming up.................... |

Upol make a texture paint in aerosols for repairing interior trim panels. Medium is about the right coarseness. The applied surface doesn't need to be 2000 grit perfect either as the texture paint is quite thick. Grey bumper paint over the top makes it look like an OE part. |

Is there a Question in there that I missed...???
As for the Colour, They are painted same as interior Colour. Had made up by my local Auto Paint Shop, but you could paint whatever colour. |

Test fit for the speakers. I will have to cut the rear ring slightly as the speakers have huge magnets and capacitors on the back but no probs they will fit great. And just to prove it here's the blonde. (Did not want a photo) By the way my nickname from the old drag/race days is "Grunter"or "Grunt"" |

Flex, not sure where Grant put his holes, but this is my suggestion....I hope you can see the RED DOTS......
Also, the last photo showing the speakers above.....the Shallow one is 6 1/2" Sony 2 way. |

I drilled 4 off 5mm holes in the rear much like Sneaza marked with red dots above. Make sure you can get a screwdriver straight at them through the speaker hole. A couple of the red dots above may be a little difficult to get at. I used some short, I think 12mm long No.8 self tapping screws to fix them to the plastic parcel shelf. |

Thanks boys
It's true, "a picture paints a thousand words"
By the way bought a new deck and 6" cadence speakers from JB-Hi Fi last night. 30% discount b/w 6 - 9pm.
Love a bargain!!!
Quick question, Never done an install before. Is removing old deck/replace with new plus adding 2 rear speakers a difficult task? I mean, I imagine I would have to remove part of dash etc. to gain access. Am a little nervous but gonna give it a go on the weekend.

As Andy's Tutorial covers it, but, when you ADD the leads for the REAR Pods, run them down the Centre....Either feed them UNDER the Carpet or on top (Taped down), then when you get to the Parcel Shelf....remove the Centre section and feed the wires Left and Right, then up into the Pods, replace centre setion, done. All wires Hidden....
Make sure you have enough wire into the Pod (to attach Speaker), then Tie a knot in it....this is so it won't, for whatever reason, fall back through the Hole.....trust me on this, if they are not tight on the speaker, they will shake loose then you'll wonder why the speaker isn't working....Soldering them will also solve the problem...if you have a soldering iron...???
Pics of the install when you finish....... |
