Well So far the little car has arrived caused the wife to drive properly (I wish i could get her to drive the RX8 like she drives this) and then promptly scared the sh*t out of everyone i have taken for a ride.

So it turns out the little car used to be owned by Dave Benson who is abit of a tuning God when it came to these little cars and suzuki pandering to the Japanese tuners market offered every available option under the sun for the cappuccino

So the currently found upgrades are
Rhb31 Turbo
Big equal length tubular manifold.
295cc Injectors
Suzuki Sport N2 Ecu
ARC Intercooler
silicon hosing everywhere!
SPA Design. Boost, Charge Temp, Oil Pressure, Oil Temp Gauges
Nardi Steering wheel
CD player relocated to glove box
Suzuki Sport Roll Bar
Suzuki Sport ARB kit
Suzuki Sport Suspension
Tarox grooved and drilled brakes and EBC Green Pads Braded Brake lines
HKS SSQV
Fox Racing 14' Alloy wheels Brand new with Avon tyres
Magnecor KV85s and some super denso Grade 9 plugs to run cooler
Custom Stainless exhaust and Decat.
HKS 272in/272out cams - it idles so lumpy it sounds wrong but beautiful at the same time.

So Happy that the car is mechanically sound and its not going to blow up on me at full chat I took it out today for a spin whilst it was quiet and let the car warm up pottering about and once all the lights had gone out on the SPA gauges i stopped on this quiet piece of dual carriage way A road (4am ish just after dawn) and let rip

The world kind of blurred and then came back into focus once i had let off the throttle to change into 2nd went blurry again and then into 3rd where it went really blurry and i was just about to nudge over 70 so i let off. realizing i hadn't actually been breathing the whole time this happened looked at the iPhone which was on the Dynolicious app securely held on the center console with copious amounts of blue tac.

0-60 5.68seconds!!!!
power to weight 176hp Per Tonne!

the scary thing is i had turned down the boost to .8bar as i was unsure the car would take it the first time it was driven properly back to mine having been stood for a while. It was running 1.1bar fine when Dave had it in its prime with 1.3bar available on a scramble switch on the dash for track use.

Ill post up some pics later but this thing makes my RX8 feel so slow now :p

I'm a giant but the car is really small!

Lovely set of spa design gauges and a racetech capillary oil pressure gauge.

Suzuki sport N2 ecu

Lots of shiney pipes and a mahoosive intercooler from IRS motorsport

You don't realise just how small this engine is until I put my iPhone on it

scroll manifold and ssqv

Idle is a little smooth as it was warming up not just ticking over at nOrmal temp i'll take a proper vid tomorrow so you can hear how lumpy it is at idle.

So day 4 with the cappuccino I got the back end out properly today was great little flick out easily caught and just give It more loud pedal to increase the angle. I need better suspension to really hang it out there :p

Proper little comedy moment first thing when it was so cold I started the car and used a microfibre to wipe down the windows and then put the damp cloth indoors. Now being only 6'c this morning a fair bit of condensation/water vapour was coming from the exhaust and due to the lumpy idle it was popping out steam rings. It really Awesome will try to get video if it's cold enough in the morning.

Anyway the mrs finally moved out the way of the drive so I took the important comparison photo the Rex looks so fat in this photo!

And fitted the new rear number plate the old one had a crack in it and looked ratty

I moved the front number plate up By about 8 inches now the little intercooler actually gets air. My charge temps were going through the roof 45'c is not uncommon on full boost but it wasn't going down very quick or stabilising with the extra airflow so a quick move and a blast saw -10'c drop

Need some mesh there now that old stuff is really bad

I then broke out the autosol and out came the shine

And treated the exhaust too it's only 2.1/4 inches but it's 2.1/4 inches from the turbo back.

I did find a few things wrong

1. The washer bottle has split and gone brittle so I need a new one if possible? If anyone has a good condition bottle with pipes and motors from a breaker give me a shout cash waiting That and I'm missing loads of trim bolts in the cabin so if anyone is breaking one remove as many bolts as they can and post them

Great Cappuccino, and congrats for buying it. I'm jealous of your suspension and your HKS cams (no ideas about how to find them ?)

This engine has forged pistons and conrods, right ?

Yes Ricou Its fully forged

Well I had a fun weekend and on Saturday I gave the car its first real polish and wax for probably YEARS!

well worth the results though

I also found most of the suspension dampers and top mounts are shot and despite offering a VERY good lifetime warranty as i am not the original purchaser i am not entitled to it so I went on the hunt for some new suspension for the cappo.

Enter a full set of these for £45 thanks to matt from wymondham sale rooms

I also have been having some serious doubts as to the legitimacy of the MOT certificate after finding the windscreen washers didnt work after finding this

Also one of the rear brakes kept sticking ans the suzuki sport suspension was shot and leaking. So I booked the car into a Vosa station and lets just say their is now an ongoing investigation and i have about £500 worth of repairs and upgrades to make

So the car goes into a Very good garage later this week called JD Modified its run by a good friend of mine called James Darby and he is going to be carrying out a mini overhaul for me and a total transfusion to boot.

Currently planned we have Complete hose change every hose on the engine will be replaced. Radiatior flush. and new coolant
Engine Oil change
Gearbox Oil change
Diff Oil Change
Cambelt
Water Pump
Ancillary belts.

New springs and dampers
New Top mounts.
Chassis Bracing

I have no idea how long the car was sat unused as the first few tanks i was lucky to break 180-200 miles. but i ran some injector cleaner through the tank and have been treating the car to a diet strictly comprising of V-power and Momentum 99 and the boost has been creeping higher and the mileage has been increasing and I hit 280 miles to 22 liters middle of last week and this morning i refilled at 250miles so the fuel system is definitely performing on par as the last few fill ups my MPG has been 50.97, 47.31, 56.45, 49.10, 51.2 so big improvements over the original 38 and 42mpg from the first 2 tank fulls.

Well I went a little nuts and bought a few more items from Matt at Wymondham.

2.2 crux MHG gasket
A short shifter kit
a Long Drift black knob

Half of the full silicon Hose kit is in place I replaced the washer bottle and cleaned out the nozzle and hoses and replaced the washer motor. Does not taste Good!

I have changed the Alternator belt.....Again after an ebay seller sold me a 615 telling me it was the correct size. so i bought a 600 and now the car is really quiet again last friday was scary.

I also re-gassed the Aircon using one of those EX chill kits from Halfrauds. £38 (+£10 refund for taking back the bottle) Im half temped to keep the bottle though and use it as a CO2 bottle for an intercooler spray bar. Ice cool Cappo now .

Also i am selling the RX8 so this should free up about another £1.2k to spend on the Cappo Im thinking a set of 2nd hand wheels, a set of R'888s, Half 9s two way LSD and a set of roof seals as I have found my LSD is just a little one way and i think is Rather worn...

Thats it for now (do you now if i can remove the front center bit on the bumper or will i loose alot of structural rigidity to the bumper)?

As long as the Bolt Mounting positions elswhere are in place, removing that centre bit wont affect it whatsoever.....I removed both of mine (2 Cappos) and have had NO PROBLEMS.

Cappo looks very nice.

Cheers Sneaza.

Well since last post I have been busy buying more bits for the cappo

I have bought from wymondham a heartland front bumper, a new dipstick after breaking the top off mine. a new mirror cover and a new set of wheels from ebay

wheels i picked up from ebay earlier today 14"x6j et 25 with a 30mm drop courtesy of the teins should run almost flush with no scrubbing the wheels are nismo freshly powdercoated black and sexy as hell

I also took the car to a classic car meet this was taken quite late on when a few other cars had moved sunbeam tiger V8 turbo esprit, me, 1920s riley, v12 etype, concourse rover 3.5

was abit busier earlier

and it was exotic - this is genuine not a kit or replica !!!!!!!!!!

bought myself a new horn after being pulled out on and nearly side swiped
too click for sound clip

Well I had abit of an ebay bargain session.

picked up the new wheels and bought myself some new nuts and valve stems.

also picked up a set of Yokohama super soft  A539 track tyres. with a wear ratio of 200:1! £40 FOR THE SET with 7mm tread !

Had the strut braces fitted

The fronts fouled my exhaust though so i have had to pack the bots out with some washers to get them fitted.

Disaster struck though the new wheels look amazing perfectly flush and look really aggressive whilst legal!

However the rears scrub and i mean scrub badly. May have something to do with my fat a*se and the new 30mm drop thanks to the Teins!

so im awaiting a call back to get the arches rolled and flared. I don't want to be rocking round donnington on the fox wheels and the avons they arent the best for track use.

Ill keep you posted.

Can see from that last pic that your front bumper extension totally blocks the plastic air scoop that sticks down under the the front. I think that your heartland bumper will sort this allowing more air in where you need it. Looking good though wish it was mine.

This should have been a heartland but I'm not complaining

These were a bargain and will really help set the car off

I got them from the Wymondham chap for £100

But since then the car has a taken a nose dive i had re routed all the piping with some blue silicon to tidy up the engine bay and to replace some possibly leaky 18 year old boost hosing and to re plumb in the HKS SSQV via the original route through the hard metal pipe through the front of the engine.

So i take the car out an i make the fundamental mistake of letting the Wife drive............tried to pull away in 4th only 2 minutes into driving with the engine at a roundabout Revs the sh*t out of the engine and rags the clutch.....Dont worry shes alive......just.

So about 20 minutes later the car feels sluggish and the car starts to make a sound like its poorly running only on 2!!!

So cars gone into my good friends garage JDModified who whipped the head off today to find the poor repair that the previous owners did (fit two gaskets instead of 1 proper thickness one!)

so wife has been told its going to be about 2k to fix. so i can get some other mods carried out too

Just found this post. I knew Dave we met when SCORE was formed in 1996 (?) he really went for it and lived life to the full. I may have some details of the work done on his car in old SCORE newsletters I'll have a look when I get back home in November!
Keep up the good work on M70.

Thanks Yorkie. I havent really been on SCORE, I think Dave was such an influence and a presence on there that i think it would be a little odd to return with his car bit like bringing a ghost back.

Onto the Car. Since my last update there have been a great many things happen

1. My current spend on Parts Alone is upto £2380 and i still need to order another 300 easily.

so far i have bought about £600 worth of parts from Suzuki GB
another £500 from Monster Sport a few other little toys here and there
a cusco RS LSD 2 way man diff!
a Gizzmo MS2 IBC
a new oil cooler
a new Dash
a tripple gauge pod
a pair of Mx5 seats which will be sold as they give me more room front to back but not in height and im on the prowl for some Smart roadster seats.
A super short shifter
a Stebel Nautilus.
a new set of shelf speakers.
the set of bushings arrived as expected from Suzuki Sport. A follow on set of engine mounts and diff mounts have been ordered at significant saving after a rather brief but intense discussion where some legal threats were thrown about from me they agreed to a £268.43 discount on the remaining parts!

Final parts lot collected from Suzuki This morning £315! for 18 items.....

DAMN YOU LORD! for getting that stage 2 engine if i had got that i would have saved about £1K

So thats it really just got to get it all fitted now

you would win in a race i have about 50kg to shift to be competitive
you dont need to buy new lash adjusters though. the bleeding proceedure turned my 12 floppy squashy bits into 12 little steel rods that barely moved!

It only just missed a trip to cornwall this weekend  but im having the boost mapped this week.

I bought the GIZZMO MS2 IBC (it has 6 different boost memories a turbo timer built in and a FCd so quite a neat bit of kit.) now the question is what do it set the limits to.

bearing in mind the full rebuild and mini overhaul she has just had im thinking

0.9bar daily commuter boost
1.1bar spirited fun
1.3bar for track days/scramble settings

So not sure at  the moment I'll try fitting the black roof and wheels this weekend but I think they are coming off...Rub you hands together in glee Lord
