it was about this time my second son was born which put some down time on my car, but it gave me time to look into painting the body kit.  I really didnt want to be like those idiots who drive around with an unpainted body kits on a civic.  I wanted the body kit to look completed the first day i drive with it.  After seeing what it was going to cost to get a custom paint job in japan, I started looking for other options.  one of my friends had just wrapped his gas cap in some 3M Di noc carbon fiber vinyl, and i thought it would look cool to do the whole front half of my car in it.  the vinyl would only cost about 1/4 the cost of paint.  so, i ordered it.  here you can see the single weave wet carbon front splitter.  it looks amazing!

after watching a few videos on youtube on how to apply Di-noc film, I decided to give it a go.  3M Di-noc, is really easy to work with... unless it is patterned.  it streches easily with a heat gun, but you have to be very careful not to stretch it too far because the carbon pattern will warp.  now i know why body shops charge so much to apply this stuff.

the best part about this Di-noc is that if you do over stretch it you can peel it off and hit it with the heat gun and it will shrink back to normal.  I had to do alot of that on my first piece.  this was afterall, my first time applying vinyl.

this first piece took me about 6 hours to do because i kept having to start over.  stretching the carbon over conical surfaces is really hard without warping or causing wrinkles.

the second fender only took about 4 hours.  I kind of had the hang of it by the end of this one.

i took a few measurements for comparison.  here the stock facia sits about 5.5-6 inches off the ground.

first day in public with the new body kit.  I was turning sooo many heads in this thing.  Since the front fenders bring the body out 20mm on each side i chose to get some 25mm spacers to bring the wheels out to match.  and of course i have the 50mm spacers on the rear.

since the body was a huge eye catcher it was time to get rid of those stock wheels that drag the overall look of the car down.  I opted for some 16x7 "Effect Wheels: europa" in electro blue, with 205/40r16 faulken azenis rt615k tires.

i absolutely love these tires!!  they have tons of grip.  and i can max my cappo out at about 200kph with full confidence in control.  the down side is that I can no longer drive sideways when i want to.

Can you tell me if you have the type1 spoiler or type 2?

Type 2 is 3cm longer, I'm currently in talks with streeter to get me one but don't know which I'd prefer,

Thanks

Good work with the di-noc!

How come you get 'A' plates - I though you just had 'Y'?

My trunk lid is the type 1, unfortunetly toyoshima craft doesnt make the type 2 in carbon fiber.

"A" plate is the k-car version of the "Y" plate.

I received a quote from Jesse, there are two sizes of spoiler type 1 and type 2, type 2 is 3cm taller than type 1, both type 1 &2 are now available in frp and carbon fibre.

nearly £500 delivered to uk for the type 2 in frp

Type 1 - same as mine.

http://page2.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/b140531607

Type 2 is wider (launded in the last 12 months)

http://page6.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/f117146736

The exhange rate ruins the prices.
