Hey Guys.

As promised here is a thread with all details etc regards our race car cappo!

It started life as Lords Project, after three weekends work it got fully welded up, has a nice standard rear arch and is ready for its appointment with the rollcage company in february!

Plans for the car are:

Safety:
Full msa/fia spec rollcage.
Tillet b4/b5/similar seat.
6 point trs (Why trs you say, they're comfy and I'm used to them ) 3 inch harness.
Lifeline plumbed in fire extinguisher.
Atl style race fuel cell.
Full ignition cut off.
Led Rain Light.

Handling:
BC Coilovers (mistra-r if we can get some made but its not looking likely)
Six Sixty design under braces and strut braces.
Semi Slick tyres ( undecided on make, used to r888 but they aren't very good when coupled with little weight as need working hard to work well and will not perform with not much weight so looking at Marahgoni or Yokohama ao48r)
A wheel at around 6j front 7j rear but undecided on the right wheel yet.
Wilwood front brakes, rear brakes will be standard with drilled and grooved discs and EBC Yellow Stuff pads.

Aerodynamics:
Twisted high level adjustable carbon fibre japspeed rear wing.
Rear lip spoiler.
Front splitter.
Double front canards.
Flat floor.
Wide Arch Kit.

Power:
Standard Engine with head work. (Will slowly recieve forged internals)
Ht07 turbo.
Starlet bigger Injectors.
Adaptronic Ecu.
Full performace hose kit.
Bigger radiator.
Charge Cooler.
Custom Made exhaust and manifold.
Developed Cold Feed Air Intake through front bumper.

Weight Loss:
Full strip of door skins.
Perspex side windows.
Stripped roof.
Full interior removal including dashboard.
Heater matrix removed, replaced with small hot/cold screen de-mister.

Will be fully developed over time and improved race by race having knowledge of the majority of uk race circuits and some european tracks inlcuding experience in developing and setting-up race cars/karts over the past ten years.

Connor.

Wow my old car is having a new lease of life....

I have to say Connor and his dad are two cool guys. Your dad is a nice genuine guy and I'd love a dad to help me build a race car. How cool is that. Lol

Good luck with the build and get some pictures up or even a link to the main pictures.

Lord

I will link you to the ebay listing for a normal Japspeed wing off one of there s13/s14 drift cars, but ours will be adapted as would be far too wide for a cappo.

Looks interesting can't wait to see the finished product. For tyres you might want to check for the softest of them as there are different compounds maybe you were using a hard one on the cap which needs more work and weight.

We were using the r888 gg compound (on an mr2), which is a medium, if you go soft/too soft you will get very bad graining on the fronts when tyres are cold with it being front engined and high downforce, this will be forcing the front tyres to turn the car which is using the downforce not the mechanical grip of the car which will be using the tyres when hard/cold so will then affect the tyres performance for the rest of the race.

Seen that rear wing on a few things, one of which was an mx-5. needed some big a** bracing bars to keep it rigid - bare this in mind when fitting it to a cappo! I've seen an interesting custem rear defuser from a tuner in Japan which the mounted a big wing like that to aswell.

Aside from it being a track car, it sound fairly similar to what I'm doing to mine

Bracing is already sorted for the rear wing to ensure maximum use of the downforce available.

Diffusers aren't an off the shelf buy imo as it all depends what use you have for a diffuser whether it's high speed stability or keeping the car balanced with the front downforce so will be a n ongoing design getting the diffuser right and not essential from the get go.

Pictures are very limited at the moment with it being sat on a trailer ready to be caged and only had a bit of welding done. Once back from the cage company we will pop some pictures up!

This is still on the go guys but as I've been very busy with work commitments not much has progresssed apart from the change from a cappo engine to a bike build!

It will probably be having a gsxr1000/1300 (Hayabusa) engine fitted, pics to follow in the coming months but all welding has been completed, struggling to find an msa cage company willing to take it on with it being such a small car and a one off build, plus I don't have the facilities myself.

Did you go to the Spa track recently ?

A friend of mine spotted a white Cappuccino with a big wing there.

Other than that, any news on the car ?
