Cheers for the comments, they help push me along

Taking her from a working vehicle to not, just by lowering her 5 or 6 inches really took a chunk out of my mojo, but...

More headlining.

Did a trial fit, it works, now I need to sew in the tensioning cords down the sides so I can get it nice and tight.  I'm going to remake this at some point without putting the joins in so its seamless as the patten really shows up the joins

Next up, address the sump issues, the engine mounts sit on the subframe so first I had to suspend the engine.

Then drop the subframe

End of play today, ready to pull sump and get a new one laser cut

When she was back a part one thing led to another and my thoughts turned to brakes so i mocked them up in 8mm acrylic, it cuts easy and is strong enough to hold the callipers

Now I'm happy it all fits I can get them laser cut in steel

I've also addressed the sump by cutting what I did off and starting again

At the minute, pretty scary and fecking awesome at the same time!

Anything above 50mph with the steering box and drum brakes is frankly terrifying

She pulls amazingly though and just seems to keep on wanting to rev.  I have no cat and about a 3 foot 2" exhaust, she comes on boost low revs and keeps going...

I love her!

hardly surprising its scary, you need to get that plumbed back in to that lil hole on the front and wondering why the non standard turbo?

Well I'm currently on my third standard turbo, secondhand they appear to suck terriably, are expensive and I appear to run out of boost about 6k

This turbo is cheap, readily available and will be mounted above the engine where I can actually get to it.

Its also bigger so.........

Well she got me to the gathering and back and she got me to work this morning, but on the way home that distinctive rattle reappeared as the turbo shat itself once more.

No worries, pulled onto the drive, bonnet off and cleared this space from the crappy old turbo

A quick comparison

Now its been a nightmare to get the old turbo out due to lack of space so the new one will never fit there.

No worries, I'll stick it up here, move the intercooler to the front etc, look you can actually see my engine, plus now everyone will definitely know she's turbo'd

Evening,

Its been a while aint it, life and winter getting in the way I guess...

Where to start, well its all about the turbo.  This isn't going to fit without some major fabrication so best get on with it

These arrived, very well priced, I forget now, but I want to say around the £15 mark ( the pipe work, not the flanges, though they were very reasonable)

This would be the first and hopefully last time I make a manifold, I couldn't get my head round the angles and the curves and the arghhhhhh.  Still after many many hours and grinding small bits off her and there it came together

I don't seem to of taken a pic of the finished manifold, but its pretty much as above but welded

Means the turbo now sits here

Ah look, there's the manifold hiding under it, enjoy!

Love this shot, love how the turbo is almost as big as the block

Oh, then I got carried away with the exhaust manifold and this happened

So that's currently where I'm at.  I need to connect the exhaust up with the rest of the system and do the tight fiddly bit inside the turbo to separate the screamer pipe.  Then its all about the oil and water lines to it.  Then I get the joys of buying an intercooler I can fit up the front, but to do that I'll prob need to buy a new smaller radiator.  Then its all the pipework.... meh!

can i ask why you made the screamer pipe come through the bonnet ? for me the whole project was coming along so nicely until you did that.
