It's the inside lines on the arches on the Beats that do it for me - they make it look more like a kitcar than a carcar.
THey just don't ???? They're just so abrupt and sharp like a cheap add-on, not as though they were 'integral' if you know what I mean.
That and the stripedy seats. Yuk!

I'm surprised MGMidgetman didn't go for one of these instead of a Cappo to be honest.
They probably drive a lot nearer to an MG than a Cappo does?

Yeah crisp, the design looks pretty rough around the edges if you ask me, too! It's a Pininfarina design though originally (you know, the ones who designed some of the most beautiful cars ever - F40 and Fiat Coupe spring to mind) and was bought off Honda by MG and used for the F and TF models, though I think they implemented it a little better.

I also agree on the seats, they would have been changed pretty sharpish if I'd bought a Beat

I frequently see a parked cappo in a drive in Send, opposite the pub at the bridge, (possibly called The Rowbarge).  Also pulled up behind another cappo on Westfield Avenue, Woking last thursday evening, Jan 11th, it was pretty fogged up so couldn't have been too far from home!

If that is the way she feels, she clearly deserves to be lumbered with that slow and unattractive soft-topped rubbish.  How can you possibly compare the two cars???  Perhaps she should borrow my glasses.

Ozziee, I'm in Manchester and have a red Capp with white 5-spoke wheels, maybe it was me you saw? There's a yellow Beat in Reddish, my dad works with someone who knows the owner, I think they've got another kei car too, but not sure what.

Ha, ha, ahahahaha

I'm sure a lot of us looked into the Honda Beat, just like a lot of Beat owners will have looked at the Capp. Whatever the reason we each prefer our chosen car

I'm one that certainly looked into the Beat , but wher I used to work,  well lets say I prefer something a little less attractive to a passing Stanley, and the faster bit I like as well    .

I like the Beat's rarity, but the Capp for me was:
- faster and easier to get more power from
- supposedly better handling
- more practical eg. a boot that's sometimes handy and a hardtop
- affordable to insure
- better looking
- part of a much larger online community (in the UK at least)

I'd still love to own a Beat sometime though

Absolutely, yet if you squint with your glasses off in the dark the Beat can be mistaken for an MG F/TF which are common as muck

I saw two different Honda Beats on the weekend, the guy in the green one (complete with doof music and chrome mags) was desperately seeking attention/approval by slowing down beside me and raising his stereo volume (but I didn't give it to him!  ) and another red one passed by the next day when I was helping my friend move house...

Green?  Red?  I've only ever seen two up here and they were both yellow (assuming I haven't seen the same one twice)

I've seen another capp in Banbury, identical to mine (i.e. standard red).

It explained a lot because when I first bought this car I kept seeing random strangers wave at me! Seriously! I figured it had to be another capp and I finally spotted him just once, back in october.

Whoever he is he's popular. Though his friends seem to have realised there's 2 capps now because they've stopped waving at me!

Hi, blush, it's my first time, so be gentle with me, I'm just working out how to post, saw my first Cappo today, don't think I've seen one before, I love it, it is for sale but garage was closed, going back tomorrow, haven't told the wife yet!!  its silver or grey, (i'm colour blind) against.....it's done 106,000!!, but looks in very good condition, having read a bit on the forum, it seems like I've got to turn it upside down and inside out for rust.
Where are the most vunerable areas that you can actually see/get at, It's an L reg so 93/94? any advice would be greatly recieved,......the bad news is..... I think I'm in love!!!!

Hi bonyb and welcome!

Another heart captured at first sight eh?

The rear arches, sills and inner front wings around the suspension mounts are the most obvious places.  Like you say the other major place can't be seen unless the car is raised or you strip the interior!

If it's for sale at a garage they should have checked for rot and if you sound like you know what you're talking about they should give the game away if they are hiding something.  Make sure it's had a very recent MOT or better still that it will have a fresh MOT and it will give some security.

Hi Andy, Thanks for that, I will have a good look around, just metioned to the wife we might "pop out" tomorrow, think I got away with it!!!

I also think it was automatic, I saw on the "parcel shelf"what looked like a brown leather user manual/book, will be interested to see how much of a track record it has...........getting excited.

An auto eh?  It will be a late model Type 3 JDM import then with the K6A engine and electronic power steering!

Unless it was on a private plate, a type 3 would have a later reg number as imports are given one to match the year they were manufactured. I'd say chances are bonyb's mistaken either about it being an auto or the reg plate. I'm sure we'll find out soon enough

Oh and welcome to the board bonyb, make sure you sweet-talk your mrs before going for a test drive, because you will be buying a Capp after you do

Yep if it is definitely an L reg it can't be an auto.  But with so many vanity plates on cars now it's impossible to tell.

Hi Guys...and Gals,
Sweet talk went really well and as it's coming up for my birthday, and I kind of promised to sell my bike, we arrived "with sanction" but Yes you were right......It must be my age,..... L reg it was, Auto it wasn't, 104k it was!!! unfortunately I didn't see the sales guy, but had a reasonable look round, its had a paint job, some paint peeling on bonnet, its silver, been filled around rear wheel arches, not very well, can see and feel the ups and downs, inside rear wheel arches are well rusted with quite big holes and along rust along the back of the sills. Tyres are good, even wear, and from a few yards back looks very attractive!! Underneath was difficult to see properly but looks like it might have been undersealed at some time(cover up or prevention?)

The indicator lights protrude, so does that make it an import? I haven't started it up or looked under the bonnet, it is up for £2695, which to my untrained eye, seems high for the mileage and potential work, comments would be greatly appreciated.

Genrally speaking if the indicator protrudes it's a UK car.  Visually also look for white indicators in the bumper instead of solid orange, MPH speedo and the real tell tale sign, a VIN number starting JSAE
