Hi all, just wanted to share this with you, its really making me wonder what sort of world we are living in these days!!

Was at about 2am, a mate was round for a couple of beers and was just about to drop him home cause i wasn't drinking. Heard a massive bang from outside which was odd for the time of night. Run to the bedroom window to look outside and i couldnt believe my f**king eyes. My suzuki Cappuccino which i left parked at the side of the road was now on its roof rolled over in the middle of the road!! I burst out the door and ran down a lane looking for people, my mate ran the other way to find a group of older teenage lads which as soon as they clocked him ran like hell. He couldn't catch up and lost them.

I walked back to the car to take in what just happened. Not the most pleasurable experience to be sat on the pavement at 2am waiting for the police to turn up staring at your pride and joy upside down in the road, roof creeking and windscreen cracking under its own weight because a bunch of drunk little pricks though it would be funny to roll your car over!!

I spent 3hrs giving a statement which i doubt that anything will come of. The car was trucked to the police station after the coper noticed very evident prints on the door and sill where they must have picked it up. Oh and to top it all off my insurance doesn't seem to cover acts of vandalism. The cars beyond repair, roof pannels dented, windscreen smashed, side windows smashed, bonnet and wings dented. Ill get some pic's when i get her back and have calmed down. be likely that she will be broken down for spares

Whoa I would be furious too!  I really hope they catch the punks that did it.  And I hope you're wrong about your insurance not covering vandalism.

What a bunch of absolute w*nkers!

Surely your insurance will cover it though or is it not fully comp?

I was angry enough when I first read this but hearing the insurance company's response has now got me absolutely fuming!!! What's the point of paying insurance if they just find an excuse not to pay out???

I really feel for you Dan. If the police catch and convict the bast*rds who did it you might be able to get something back by suing them.

Jesus what a terrible thing.  Sadly, these days, nothing surprises me. Don't expect too much help from the plod - they are form fillers-in from what I see around me. I would dispute the insurance company though. They always try to get out of everything - their immoral duty - so what grounds have they said you aren't covered?

Bad bad luck... you must want to kill the useless f++kers

This is aweful. Why have the insurance said it's not covered? Are you comprehensively insured or is it third party?

If you are tpft then I can understand them not paying out, but comp.. no way.

If you caught them they'd probably only get an ASBO whereas they really need sending to Afghanistan as open top truck drivers.

One thought regarding repairs, obviously first i'm gonna say that we at cappo sport can get it repaired for you especially if the rest of the car is good, it'll be a shame to break it.
But secondly other than the windscreen surround can everything else not be sourced off a dona car and replaced by yourself, there's a few cappo's arround at the mo selling cheap and front wings, roof and hoop, bonnet, doors and windscreen glass are usually the last things faulty on these cars.

It may be worth your while even if you sell the car on afterwards.

Still its a shiter even that you've got to go through this.

If the police trace them with the fingerprints and charge them they can make a claim for you to be compensated but usually people who do this kind of stuff are total losers with no income except for what benefits we pay them to live on but you never know. With good fingerprints left at the scene in my experience they are usually found. if there not found the problem you have is that if you fix the car is that they just do it again

Wouldn't that be only if their prints are on record.  If they have never been in trouble before...

yeah but they are kept on record and checked against everyone who comes into custody whether they are convicted or not if they are not known and get pulled in for something else in the future they will be picked up then. its usually the same 5% of the population that make everybody elses live a misery

'Theft and Fire' are covered under this, yes. However, the police report that would have been done at the scene when they were called won't reflect this. Telling the insurers otherwise would constitute fraud.

Man i feel for you.

There's something about getting a wack on any motor. But when it's a poor cappuccino, already dwindling in numbers and yet so precious and it's a fact that you have looked after your little gem.

So when some little s*its looked at it, obviously not knowing what a great motor it is and only looking at it in it's tiny form as something to turn over. Maybe share a story over a pint. They obviously didnt realise what misery it's caused to you.

Personally dont break it. Keep it. I'm sure there's hope for you man! I know you're still pis*ed off cus i would be screwing!

You just need a few days to assess the damege. There's a few parts left i think on the one in Shifnal i posted. It's winter soon anyway??

Yeah police are aware of it all and its all on record so no chance of claiming it was stolen.

The good news is where i live there are a well know group of 18 year olds who are always in trouble. My mate managed only to make out what one person was wearing when they fled, this being a striped hoodie. My brother manages a local shop and this group of lads are always causing hassle. We got the CCtv footage for that evening and that group are in there buying drink, all wearing dark clothes apart from one in a striped hoodie matching the one my mate saw. My brother also knows all there names.

The police are coming around tomorrow to collect the tape and interview my brother. Hopefully they will have enough authority to take them in and get prints, but to be honest they are the kind of little fuckers whole already have a record. Hopefully there are matching prints. If they cant link it at least i can be pretty sure now who it was, not sure if that will be a good thing cause im pretty pissed off.

Surely your car was technically stolen. It was moved from where you left it without your permission.

Couldn't be classed as theft as far as I see it as there was no intention to permanently deprive the owner of it.

I think i will have another phone to the insurance company. Cars still at the police lock up at the moment.
Been given a form to fill so if it does get to court they know a price of the amount of damage caused. Any ideas on where it would be best to take it to get a quote, was thinking of maybe emailing some pics to Dany as im sure most places around here wouldnt have a clue.

Also it looks like she made it into the paper

If the insurance company will not pay out, it may be worth trying to take the local government/police force to court for the damage that they didn't prevent. Is the police station not on the same road that this occurred on?

If they fail to get a conviction and therefore get a pay out from the people that did it, is it not a failing in the police force that they can be held accountable for?

Might want to think about contacting the IPCC.

Hi,

I am not a lawyer - but did a law degree - if the person who 'took' your car albeit only a few feet, treated it as if it were their own then that can consitute intention to permanently deprive. Here - they rolled the car which means they definitely treated it as their own car. They moved its location hence they took it. Its worth getting legal advice on this one - also vandalism is normally when the car is stationery - which yours clearly wasn't. I can't see much difference between a joyrider taking your car round the block and rolling it over just past where it was originally parked and what these idiots did. - This might consitute "taking without consent" - which is a form of theft.

UK law is a bit funny - if you left a five pound note on a table and I took it and spent it & then put a different 5 pound note on the table before you got back - that's still theft.

I am very sorry to hear about all this - I hope you get some legal advice & use it to a) press charges and b) recover your losses from your insurer.

You have to be really pushy with insurers - sometimes they behave more like thieves then the thieves themselves......

Best Regards
Hamza

Thats true. A mate of mine was offered £600 for his written off Mini. He took  my advice, freaked at the insurers and got £2k.

Thats my view too. They took it, they trashed it. Distance shouldnt matter.

Hassle the insurers.

That's a really bad story bro!!I really hope you can get them or at least some compensation out of it! I know how it feels also.....

Was at a house party a couple of years back when I 1st got my cappuccino. I caught a few of my mates lifting up the back end and trying to rotate the car around 180. They just dropped it, probably from about a foot of the ground! fortunately nothing was damaged.

Biggest downside to having a small and light car, people can lift it and move it very easily!!just have some respect eh!!!!
