Hi

Here are a few pics of progress I have received so far...
They are mocking up the placement of the engine & rear diff etc...
the aim is 300-400bhp Cappo - limited to the max torque the diff can take

Can't wait to get my hands on the car when its done.

H

There are no metalic black production cars and for a good reason.  Black is one of the few colours that looks a bit odd in metallic.  Metalic paint is made by adding tiny flakes of aluminium to the paint to make it look sparkly.  Metalics are then painted in clearcoat to add to the shine.  I've seen custom cars in metallic black and they look a bit gritty and just odd.  I'd suggest you see if you can look at one in the flesh before specing metallic black.  A solid black with clearcoat should give a nice shiney finish.

I've got a metallic black SEAT (It's a VW Colour called Black Magic Pearl, LC9Z) That looks good in my opinon.  Used fairly extensively on VW Audi group cars (Lots of A3s and A4s).

Good images of the metal flake in it here;

the subframes are being wire brushed and painted I think. Powder coating would mean  stripping and new bushes and the timeline I want Zcars to work to is too tight for that level of detail - I plan to have them strip, blast and powder coat them before next summer.

Wheels will be image wheels - the large diameter deep dish type - I am going for 17's which I think will be probably be too tall - but lets see. Width wise I reckon 9 on the back don't know where the front will land yet.

I'll post the list of parts etc going into this once I get the complete picture....but broadly speaking its a 2008 turbo hayabusa engine and gearbox, gear change will be with paddle shifters (no clutch needed on full throttle change up), rear diff has been replaced with one from Elite racing, suzuki sport suspension, there will be a roll over bar that they will make & weld in - this is a bit of safety - the roll bars that bolt in stiffen the chassis but are not good for an actual roll over. I have asked them to keep a template for this as I think other people might want one.  I am going to use black diamond discs and pads and see how it all works before I consider a brake upgrade.

The engine is being built for 400bhp but the torque will be limited to as much as the rear diff can handle, So I estimate around 330bhp, 270NM torque - I hope is driveable.

regarding rust

they have chopped it out and welded it up - they will make an aluminium fuel tank, as I leave the car for long periods of time I don't want this rust in the tank issue again.

Cheers

330BHP should give 0-62 in around 3 seconds, depending on how its geared.  That is fast, but you'll soon get used to it and it will seem "normal".  It'll be a whole lot of fun, if a bit of a handful.  In the dry you should be OK but I'd be very careful on a damp road.  I wouldn't mind taking one on a track day.  It would wipe the smirks off quite a few faces

I'll be very intrested in seeing how they actually fit the wheel arches.  I have the same ones and am now of the opinion that fibreglassing them to the car is the only real option, but they need to be able to still allow the front and rear bumper to be removed.  My thoughts are that they then need to be cut along the same horizontal line as the bumpers so that the sections that overlap the bumpers get fibreglassed in place and removed with the bumpers when its needed.  I think this would give a more production car look rather than tacked on boyracer style.

This is amazing!

Love the side exit exhaust.  How easy are Cappuccino's to IVA/BIVA?  I'm guessing a uk spec one should go through no problems???

Great work half-9! Looks and will definitely feel awesome!
When/if possible, please post a photo of the connection between the engine output shaft and the tail shaft as welll as the clutch slave cylinder arrangements.
I had some difficulties with these and believe there might be a better solution (see my photos on the "HAYACCINO' thread).
