That rear diff is a tad bit pricey in the Pound-Yen conversion rate. I've read that there is a member here who swapped in a Swift GTI engine, but I've not been able to find a picture thread or more information about it. As much as I'd like a Busa swap here in Japan (I still haven't found out if its street legal to do a bike engine swap or not), I am thinking that a Swift GTI turbo swap may be more practical. I will now join the ranks of the legion of others here who are awaiting new YouTube videos the whet our dreams. |

I think Kei has a reverse for sale if you still consider a Busa conversion
For the swift GTI turbo video you'll have to be patient, the roads are too wet nowadays

Sadly, here too. Luckily though, the rain held off over the weekend at Tsukuba's track day. Wonder what a 1.2L turbo Capp could pull around the track. Sub-1min is the magic mark. |

Haha look at he background - the blue pattern, Imagewheels can't do 16's as a deep dish so will try rotiform, as they have some similar stuff.
The thing in the picture is called the 'Devel 16' - powered by a V16 claimed 5000bhp.

Some good news today, the Elite diff MX200IL was tested and uprated from 270Nm to 340Nm - so a diff swap is not necessary, just a re-map!!! |

Bringing this awesome thread back from the dead. I wanted to ask if anyone knew about the possibility of using a newer Suzuki WagonR Stingray's/Kizashi flappy paddle for use on a bike powered car.
Does one have to use a custom setup like half-9 or can one just modify parts off a wrecked car?
I'm probably wasting my time, but I sent an enquiry to Monster Sport about working a deal to use the car for marketing purposes to help defray my costs. We'll see if I get a follow up response and if anything can happen.

Update:
I've had to have a Gen 2 gearbox installed following the demise of the gearbox that came with the engine. I am told the failure had nothing to with the power output or the geartroinics install. the particular component which failed is unrelated.
There is a new propshaft going in which will hopefully have less vibrations associated to it compared to the last two.
I will take photos of the underneath of the car and post them here - and as much detail I can get on them. This is the biggest drawback/challenge associated to this conversion, so anyone doing the conversion needs to consider this before proceeding.
My theory - which is wholly mine and I'm not an engineer - is that the virbations from the propshaft caused the gearbox failure. I can't say for certain and the info I have been given doesn't support my theory. I think the angle the propshaft runs betwen gearbox & rear diff is just too sharp, but anyway that's just my theory and little can be done about it now.
I'm really hoping the car is sorted when I get back - summer 2015. I've asked Zcars to do a video on it so I can see it in action before I take delivery.
The guys there are supportive, and I hope they test the n*ts off it before giving it back to me, as its been a long and very expensive road.
If you're part way through doing the conversion I would encourage you to take a trip up to Zcars and take a look at the cappo, and speak to them to see what lessons can be learned.

The best solution for big angle is a 3 parts prop. I have 2 parts prop but if I found a competent person that's what I'll do
Before decembre I'll test a 2 parts equilibrated |

I've been told I am getting a 'rubberised propshaft'.

The builder of my Swift 1300 GTI-turbo cappuccino also experimented with a bike engine (fireblade) but cancelled the project because the vibrations and constant high revs made driving unbearable. He then installed a 1600 Swift GTI which was too powerful, after the dowgrade made the car the agile and balanced ride which it is today. I expect to have the cappuccino road legal mid August.

Balance is so important. Making power is easy but handling is where the real skill is required. |

WOW! I retract my previous statement about there never being too much power. 380hp is more than sufficient for that size car....street car. I'd be super happy to have a K12b turbo making 300hp at the crank.
I go back to my earlier inquiry because I honestly don't know - can a Wagon-R/Kizashi (or other Suzuki) flappy paddle set-up be made to work in a Cappuccino or is going with a Geartronics the only way?
I ask because it looks far cheaper on Yahoo Japan Auctions to get a used flappy out of a wrecked car and a transmission from a Jimny (both AT and manual depending on what the flappy paddle would require - I'm not an engineer.....obviously). |

OK.
First, thanks for all the comments and apologies as I've not replied, I haven't logged in for a long time.
Every summer I return to the UK in the hope that I will be able to draw a line under this project and drive the car to my heart's content.
I have the same hope now. So please wish me luck and maybe, just maybe I can have that drive this summer.

I was reading the article on pistonheads (again), its an inspiring performance car what surprises me is that with all the 330 BHP's its max is 145MPH.
I have tried to max mine in its current state (approx 170 BHP as its downtuned for emission testing) and although it still accellerates ridiculous, I measured max speed with GPS to be 200 km/h. In such a light small car it's both hands on the wheel. |
