Got bored, thought I'd install some goodies I had lying under the bed
This was pretty darn easy, knocked it over with a mate in 4 hours (using scissor jacks )
Hardest part was cracking the Tie-rod ends to re-align the front end (had 4cm toe out )

It's pretty simple, Unbolt sway-bar linkage and lower wishbone mount at the body, unbolt lower suspension bolt, then upper strut bolts.

Push down on hub assembly and pull entire strut assembly out in one hit. This works on both front and back suspension, wasn't all that hard compared to other cars i have changed suspension components on. Reverse the process to put back in, and check your front end alignment, because it does change when you raise/lower it.

If you plan on dismantling any of the suspension components, or putting some together, you will need a spring compressor, other than that no

Yes they are BC's....after a day of driving, I'll def need to soften it up abit. It's only 8 settings from max. hard and it isn't that bad (I'll prob need a kidney belt after a month)

Hey Justin,

I saw that you were running an RHB4 turbo in this thread, which is very nice.

If you don't mind, I'd like to know how's the spool / lag with it as I'm considering buying an RHF4 (same but ball bearing) as part of my 150bhp project.

When does it start boosting ? Making full boost ? Is boost going down at very high rpm (not likely, but I want to be sure) ?

I'm also quite worried by how difficult it is to find some room for it under the hood. I know I need a custom exhaust manifold, but if you could post a few pictures of how yours is, it would be great.

Thanks !

Btw, I'm also going to buy BC coilovers, looking forward to have good dampers for a change.

Edit: Ok, after some ebay searches, I'm starting to think the "RHF = ball bearing, RHB = journal bearing" rule I read here is false or incomplete. For instance, the RHF4 VF31 is journal bearing, the VF18 is ball bearing...  Do you know which one exactly you've got ?

Also found interesting informations there:

Plenty of room to fit if you move your battery or change to a smaller bike battery (thats what i've done)
The only issues i have come across so far is the location of all the feed and drain pipes to the turbo, as i have just replaced 1 coolant and 1 oil line because they were worn through, new teflon line with silicon cover fixed the oil line, about to bend up some stainless pipe for coolant line, just because i can get a better path to the next fitting.

Starts building boost at 3K, and hits 1bar at 5K-ish, doesn't lose any at high rpm (that comes down to your boost controller, and how healthy your wastegate is)
5th gear at 100km and above is awesome, no need to downshift to overtake, you get a nice lump of power, cruising at those speeds and your off-boost.

Wouldnt have a clue which version it is....i tried to figure it out ages ago, but there are too many variations.....

Highly recommend the BC's....awesome kit and worth every cent, invest in a kidney belt too, as the ride does become alot stiffer, even with the softer settings. You'll find new rattles throughout the car too as nuts and bolts loosen up from vibration LOL

Thanks for the information Justin

A smaller battery doesn't sound exciting, I've already had weak battery problems and it's not fun, plus I have an alarm which might be drawing a little current continuously. Moving it, alright, but where ?
I'll see if I can find enough room without messing with my battery.

About the oil and water pipes, I know there's some work to do, maybe I'll get someone more experienced to take care of it.

From what you tell me about boost, it seems like it's a bit bigger than my HT-07 which hits 1bar at 4k rpm. You don't know which version it is, but at least is it journal bearing or ball bearing ?

The battery itself is the same output as a standard fitment, just half the size, sits nicely between the firewall and wheel arch (they should have run them like this from factory and wedged a bigger turbo in)
As for the turbo, pretty certain it's a journal bearing setup. The info on these turbo's is quite sh*t to be honest, not alot of it and contradicting at times...

Same output ? That's interesting. Thanks !

Well, I'm planning on getting a ball bearing one, there are a few used ones on Ebay.
My 1st ball bearing turbo, I'm looking forward to it. The spool should be quite like my HT-07, but with more potential for big hp.
