No way, insurance? Might be time for a carbon fibre bonnet, roof & boot lid?
|
|
Yea, looks like insurance is gonna pay me out. Hopefully ill be able to buy the car back and get some cf panels ect Only problem is im sure i wont be able to rego the car with cf on it... and i dunno if i could rego it again in its current state (structure is 100% fine, just cosmetic damage), but we'll see. |

Small update... car is now on the WOVR. Gonna go speak around abit to see if it can pass the VIV inspections and get re-registered without fixing it... In the mean time, might have to buy myself another car.. Got my eyes set on a 500sl lol.having a 660cc weekend car and a v8 daily, makes so much sense doesnt it |

Putting the car back on the road will cost less than the amount im getting payed out. Theres still a high chance of registering it with the current damage (as it is cosmetic only). Im planing to simply buy red panels from japan and put them on my car as is, no respray. Gives me abit more $$$ to spend on things like coilovers, a diff... and probably abit more power
While it may look pretty average, that doesnt concern me in the slightest. Nor does the fact that it could be difficult to sell due to being on the WOVR.
Even if i dont get anything other than panels and a respray, there is no way that it will go over the amount im getting payed out. |

I thought with hail damaged cars you can only get third party insurance well at least in NSW it does.
All the best with it good thing about the Cappa Roof etc are all replaceable! |

Looks like the car might have NOT been put on the WOVR! (makes life alot simpler )
As for an update... body panels wont be done anytime soon sadly... Putting money into a diff/suspension and will be hoping to manage around 80-90kw atw instead. When thats done... time for some dori dori =]
As for how im getting around... I was forced to get myself a replacement car and its fwd Gotta say though, the crx is a rocket lol.

I had a CRX until early this year and gotta agree, they are a little rocket. I fitted original rear seats and had it plated so as a 4 seater the wife used it for the school run and the family shopping trolley. Had a few mods like adjustable Koni's all round, lowered Kin springs, strut braces, etc, etc.
Great little run around. |

Yea hopefully going to keep it as a daily =] I was also lucky enough to get myself an imported one so i got the rear seats as standard and i got the showpony of honda... vtec Im not sure if i just got used to the cappo, but the gears in the crx are too damned long. 70km/h in first, 120km/h in second... i dont think id find a track with a long enough straight to max out 5th. |

They do have pretty tall gears but pull hard all the way. That's hell lucky to find a V-Tec one with the B series motor. Is it an SIR model? |

Woooow its been a while since i have had any free time at all! Good news though, there has been some progress made!
Well after all the hail damage, my car was then hit by someone outside my house Passenger headlight was gone and fender was sitting at 90degree of where it shouldve been! Only image i have is of the light support that i straightened out to a point. No damage to the chassi thankfully!!!
Decided it was simpler to just get a new one in (Thanks Jesse!) and get it stuck on.
Luckily i manged to salvage the fender, kinda (hammers are useful!). Its not straight or anything but it covers the wheel and will get me through a RWC/rego so couldnt care less lol.
Needed to weld on the corner as it was pretty much gone lol
Giving it life!
ready for some work
After sanding the fender down abit... yea, preeeety rippled lol.
Dodgy spray booth
Color matches okayish i guess.
And were done!
Just need to organize a RWC/rego now. Hopefully be back alive in no time at all! =D |

If only we could put the B16 in the cappo without chopping the car up too much!
Oh and parts list is expanding! Monster sport sussy + diff + all bushes (sussy, diff, engine) are all on the cards now. Just gotta rego the car and its go time! =] |

hmmm i dont know about the B16 in the capp... the 660-T is what makes the capp special, but then again, a B16 in a capp is also special LOL.
but nah, too much hassle,if you strip the comforts off your gen 2 it would go as light as 800 kgs i think.. thats just abit more than the capp + a chasis made for that engine.
so many parts im jealous.. |

Big thanks to Sean, i can now go for a RWC! I actually dont mind the mismatched colour either lol. Think i might just order one in and leave it like that =D Putting in indicators in a couple of mins and then think i might have to put in the Numberplate relocating thingy so i actually have somewhere to mount the plate lol.

The dimples on a golfball are an aerodynamic aid. This is just applying that theory to the real world |

lol! ^ Seriously though, glad your cappi is back on the road, have you tried plastic welding the bumper temporarily till you get another one? Melt a plastic coathanger into the cracks and breaks. Have to make sure all surfaces are clean beforehand. You won't be able to push out all those dings so I would bog over the top of them on the bonnet until you get a replacement... |

Hahaha, ill use the aero aid as an excuse in future
Was considering boggig up the bonnet and stuff, but cant really be bothered lol. Bonnet, Front bar, entire roof and both front fenders are on their way from japan now anyway so itll be all good soon
Its getting to the pointy end of uni at the moment, so the build will be put on hold for a little while. Soon after that im going to try do a majorish service (belts/pumps/all filters and fluids) and hopefully ill get all my body panels by then
If the colours match up resonably well (all panels from 1 donor car), i might be able to get away without a respray, in which case ill be talking to Jesse to get some goodies from Monster sport and maybe a turbo if the budget permits |

It's been a while but progress has been made!
New front end, looks Clean
Who though i could fit all 4 new rims in the car eh? =D
test fit of wheels, looks okayishh...
.. Untill you see it from the front. Too much poke :@ Note to others: 15x6.5 +34 rims stick out ~20mm past gaurds lol. Tyres on there are 195/45/15.
I could pump out the gaurds ect, but if im going any wider than stock, im gonna just get 50mm flares and run 15x8's and im short on cash so not happening any time soon. Id rather spend the money on lowering it, the car sits way too high for my liking |

i like the wheels, just need to drop the car a bit, that gap is looking a little large!
any scrubbing issues? and if you go a 15x8 wheel surely that would rub something? or is it all based on offset? |

shouldnt rub if you keep around a -45 offset just dont go any higher than that i had a set of 14s with -25 offset and 185s and they just rubbed at the rear even with an arch roll! front looked perfect rear just wasnt going to happen. |

Tiny, how wide were the 25 offset rims?
Brian runs 14x7 +14 on all sides, and he said only the front rubbed
Was it your tyre size maybe? |

Hhahaha, yea, its getting there slowly Yep, those were mine on firesport, ive had quite a bit of interest in them, but we shall see how it goes. Ive got my eyes on something special that shoud JUST tuck under stock body lines and at 4kg a pop, can count them as an upgrade too, sadly though looks like its going to cost me a fari bit lol

I like the wheels too, but not so sure i like wide fenders Agree'd i need to drop it, but sadly funds are quite limited
No scrubbing issues at all with the watanabe's. 6" wide wheels will fit from between +36 to +52 without scrubbing/poke if i worked it out right. 6.5" between +45 & +50 without scrubbing/poke
Sadly, all the rim styles i like cant be found in 6" wide lol :/ |
