Hello,

I'm Raikei and I'm French. I currently own a Suzuki Cappuccino red, a Toyota mr2 sw20, a Suzuki Swift Sport and Lexus IS200.

My Cappu is being prepared with the creation of a V-mount and custom working a VF20 turbo RHF4.

Hi,

I made an appearance here a few years ago, intending to race prepare a Cappo. Unfortunately a couple of purchases went awry and I took the hint...

Well, I've recently become the new owner of this piece of kit:

Anyone know of this little tyke's history?

Having been originally red, it's currently matt black, having been sprayed with rattle cans. There's a decent exhaust system and an after-market cone type air-filter. It has bolt on arches covering MGB GT alloy wheels which make a very good job of rubbing on partial steering lock. The air-con compressor is still there but there's no belt for it and one of the pipes is missing.

The interior is ok(ish). Driver's seat bolster is tatty but I've got a spare cover to replace that. The Driver's door card also needs replacing. Both door handles are missing the little bits of trim to cover the screws. The fog light and rear demist buttons are kept in place by some insulation tape! If you remove that and try to use the buttons, they fall out!

Anywhow... The Plan...

Retro-Cappo!

British Racing Green for the body. White for the hoop and roof sections. Racing roundels on the doors and bonnet. Classic style chrome door mirrors and possibly change the filler cap to an Aston-style one. Minilite wheels. Swap to an Irish registration, with a stick on one on the bonnet and a square one at the back in black/silver.

Interior will be stock except for the addition of a boost gauge, different steering wheel and a classic style gear knob.

Essentially I'm creating a teeny-tiny Austin-Healey!

So a little help with the wheels? Am I right in thinking 6 x 14 with an offset of about ET20 should be ok with 185/60 tyres?

I don't feel the need to race one anymore. This year I'll be sharing my wife's Impreza WRX in the CSCC Modern Classics  mini endurance races. Keep an eye on http://www.karenphillips.co.uk for more details.

Welcome back!

Yes it was owned by stevthom

As far as the wheels go that set up should see them poke around 25mm past the original arches so depends on the width of the bolt on ones.  You will also find the tyre will rub on the passenger side wheel arch trim and possibly on the driver's side too.

But it's the same size as an Austin-Healey Sprite/MG Midget

I was going for mini Austin-Healey 3000 rather than a spridget.

Car arrived from Melbourne yesterday and will be rego'd next week, passed RWC with flying colors.

Already done full service oil, coolant, all filters, monster sport cam-belt, gearbox and diff oil. it has a couple of minor dents and scratches on it but will be fixed up soon.
When on road i'll get soon photos for you guys both underneath and outside of car. still has all original parts and factory markings. anyone want photos of anything under car in detail? cause it still looks brand new

Hi,

My name is Helge, from Norway.

Have been active on this forum for a while with no cappo, but not anymore...

Just purchased a silver UK spec Cappo from Yorkie on this forum, totally original with 22000miles on the clock.
The car has never been welded or repainted, and is in mint condition.
These cars are great, Im really looking forward to use it this summer!

My pictures are too big in size, will try to resize them later.

Hi,

Been on this forum for a while, and have been skulking in the background reading.

Time to come out of the woodwork, as me and the wife have just bought a red cappo off ebay.

It's a project that was bought with no MOT and tax, but has been delivered today, and doesn't seem to need too much welding. Definitely better than I was expecting.

I will upload pics shortly.

Plans are, for the moment, just a nice clean cappo, with no real modifications yet.

Hi all , Chris here from Hampshire , have had my Cappuccino since July 2013
Enjoyed it last Summer and just used it. lol

It's a Silver 1994 , picked up with 28k on the clock now upto 35k , was from a dealer in South Wales , had been laid up for 12 years , he carried out any welding needed.

Its just been Mot'd and passed Phew , just a little work needed on rear calipers.

Now looking to start getting things done on it !!

Hope to post pics soon

Afternoon,

New member here from Sunderland. Wanted a Cappuccino for a few years now and after owning a number of cars in a bid to stop my friends ridiculing me for wanting such a small car I've decided I need one in my life!

Off to the Nurburgring in August, would ideally like to take one with me (max it out on the Autobahn! haha) so yeah, I'll just be lurking the forums and hopefully purchasing something in the near future!

Any other North East members around?
