Hi all, I just bought my cappo today as my daily drive (the mx5 I have isn't practical enough....so I bought a cappo.) Got to sa, it's an absolute joy to drive, I have a turbo'd mx5 and itb'd 5 and this seems pretty much as fun. Already searching for a takeoff rear spoiler for the car (if anyone knows of one).

Seeing as I build mx5 race cars and tune them/turbo/supercharge ect ect. you can expect some more power from the little thing.....all I want to know is how much power can the stock internals take?

Hi there and welcome.

Stock internals are very strong the crank and conrods are forged so are good for around 180bhp.  Not 100% sure at what power pistons are at risk though...

Hi,
I'm hugely impressed by your logic...a Cappuccino is more practical than an MX5... ok.
You're definitely going to be an asset to the club.

On the subject of what you can get out of them, Capposteve and Cappo Ash (no doubt among many others but clearly not me) are both knowledgeable and very helpful and it seems that a touch over 100bhp is within realistic expectation without going skint.

Plenty more can be squeezed out of them (so I'm told) if you're not allergic to a bit of GBH of the credit card.

Clemdobain (and his dad) have built a flying machine out of bits of stuff they found in their garage and on a local allotment (although I may be slightly over-simplifying and possibly making it up).

STOP PRESS. I've just re-read your post and realised that (as usual) my reply has very little to do with the question.

You want to know what the internals will take (don't we all ).

Cappo Ash has blown-up more than his fair share, so he's definitely familiar with the "do not exceed" point and in the fullness of time may turn up to tell you what it is, although at the moment he's nursing a broken shoulder and an even more broken car.

If I could suggest that you start a thread (with lots of pictures that Andy will help you get started with in the event that you need assistance) and tell us about what you're doing to the car, you'll find the response warms up a bit.

Possibly.

Low Standards is a particular favourite of mine.

There are few enough IMO who post regularly or in more than a sentence and sometimes they seem to fall away quite quickly (Sheffy/Mohammad/PurcyP among others) to the general detriment of the forum and club.

In the interests of fairness I should say that there's quite likely to be a counter viewpoint to the effect that droning on for the thick-end of half a page also has limited appeal, particularly to those who move their lips while they read.

Although looking on the bright side, we still seem to be putting on three or four hundred new members a week with metronomic regularity and despite a Stalinesque cull a couple of months or so ago we now have well over 2000 members  which is going to make the remaining cars a bit crowded and hopefully much more in demand .

Which is nice .

Well, my mx5 has no proper boot, sparse interior, a sensitive clutch, little wet grip, and is a general pain to drive day to day.....along with the 15mpg it gets. -_-

With having the dyno at work and a collection of turbo's ect I'm sure that I'll go for 100bhp nicely. But knowing they can take more is good as I'll likely end up building the cappo into a time attack car as it's something that my employer and I both see as the next logical step in motorsport (ccurrently have a car to compete in uk endurance and max5)

I hope to contribute to the forum as much as I can and keep you all updated. I just took the whole interior apart for a clean and fixed a couple of little things.  I'll post up in the wanted section though as I'm missing a fair few bits!

100 bhp isn't a problem.  Hopefully I can sell you a few bits you need as I need the money for my own build

Hello fellow Cappuccino owners! My name is Danyelle and I just purchased my first Kei car after my boyfriend introduced me to them. He wants and AZ-1 but they seem to be harder to find here. We live in Saskatoon, SK, Canada. The Cappuccino goes along well with our oldball collection of vehicles!

Hi there Danyelle and welcome!

Do I take it from the profile name change that your other half is Cam who used to own the gorgeous blue Cappo?

I did try to get my own account but I never received a response I probably did something wrong.
That's why Cam let me use his. Either way works fine for me. I can handle the questions

Hi Guys,
I've owned my cappo for two years now, I've not had the facilities or funding to do much more than keep it well serviced and covered over the winter months!
However I'm soon to be moving to a house with its own garage so I'm hoping to start giving the car the attention and mods that it deserves!

Hi Guys,

Thought it was about time I came in and introduced myself! My name's Lee and I'm the proud owner of a '94 Cappuccino affectionately nicknamed "Nero" (as in Café Nero!)

I've had the car 3 years now and it never fails to bring a smile to my face. The previous owner had down lots of work to it including a respray in baby blue (colour has grown on me) and a full 2 tone leather retrim with leather Nardi steering wheel and matching gearlever gaitor. I treated it to a custom made back box when the exhaust fell off on Xmas Eve 2013! Really makes the 3 cylinder engine more vocal and characterful.

Once the car has been washed (been out in it a lot recently, roof off naturally!) I'm hoping to post some pictures.

I'm looking forward to meeting with some of you at an event in the near future. Apologies for the ramble!

Cheers Lee

Hi Lee,

Whereabouts are you?

There's a few of us around North London/Watford who meet up occasionally.
We have access to a tame AA man plus Olympic standard welders and painters which as you well know is a prerequisite to Cappuccino ownership.

Mikei has a couple of spare Cappuccinos (plus loads of parts) and an ever increasing number of Honda Beats (four at the last count but it could be seven by now).

Sammy, whose car has just been transformed into a vision of loveliness, will soon be posting some pictures and is in the process of tweaking the boost pressure because it seems that an uprated ecu and a bunch of other stuff (I don't do technical) is not enough.

I'm about to put Nitrous on one of mine (when I say "I", obviously I mean somebody else) and Mo has designed and printed some wicked tee shirts primarily for the purpose of drawing attention away from the fact that his car is phlegm green (sorry Mo but it is.... when have you ever seen a lime that colour?) with a Rising Sun on the bonnet.

There's also a fair bit of swapping going on.

No.

Mo is having my JDM Forester S/Tb and I'm going to take his Daihatsu YRV 130 Turbo in p/ex which might then go to Mikei in a deal on his Will vi which I've fancied for a while.

Sammy's (it's his wife's allegedly) chrome plated PT Cruiser is soon to be featured in a film about a man wrestling with his sexuality prior to deciding that it would be more honest if he just shaved off his beard and wore a dress like he always wanted to.

There's a slight possibility that I may have made the last bit up

We might be planning a trip to Tangmere for a go in the Lighning simulator, Brooklands, to run up and down inside Concorde making whooshing noises with our arms stretched out behind us, the Top Gear track for the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and the last flying Vulcan and KKITP at the NEC or wherever it is.

If anyone fancies joining us they will be more than welcome (we won't hold our breath).

Hi Bulletproof Kimono,

Thanks for the welcome and intro to a few other members. I'm based in Berkshire and work in Surrey or West London. I saw the posts regarding the Ace Café meet and was hoping to show up and introduce myself! Unfortunately work commitments got in the way and logistics would have meant a 2 hour drive each way.

Not to worry I'm sure there will be another event soon to attend, I'm really looking forward to meeting some fellow Jap/Kei petrolheads and happy to travel, that's all part of the fun!

I've kept mine standard - by that I mean I have not toyed with anything mechanical - and have grown to love the interior/exterior which the previous owner did. He was a high level upholsterer and interior designer so everything was done to a very high standard. My car was originally red before the respray.

That's not to say I wouldn't be interested in future mods and I'm sure after meeting a few other people that will become more of a priority!!! It's certainly helpful to know of other people that could supply parts or do welding/spraying work.

I've got a very rich Japanese car history including a Prelude, 2 Honda CRX mk2's, Suzuki Swift GTI and the nutter that was the Daihatsu Charade GTti - torque steer hell!

Anyway, I will look to post more often via the forum and stay in touch.

Cheers Lee

Hello everyone,

I am from Greece but i live in Edinburgh for the past 5 years.

I live in Winchburgh West Lothian and i am looking for a Cappuccino as well.

Currently i own a Mitsubishi FTO GR and sadly today i learnt that for the next MOT it will need so much to be done to pass and with the danger that next year it will need more and more so its a sad day for me as i have had the car for 4 years and i really loved the roar of the 2 litre engine and the looks of it.

I am really into JDM cars, and I see you guys have a lot of knowledge and i hope if i find the correct Cappo to buy and put some good mods and effort into it. I already posted if possible to go and have a viewing for the Cappo of fuzz573, so fingers crossed i won't be sad for long. My gf owns a Turismo Abarth so we have the city car - ahem - now i need the roadster

Hi, I'm Max, and I like micras. That's usually where conversation stops, but this is the internet, and you can't stop me, as I'll have finished by the time you read it!
I'm 18, from Newbury, in Berkshire. I own 3 Micras currently, a silver 1.3 me and my dad built for autosolos and road rallies, my white 1.0 daily, and a parts car, a 1995 1.3 Super S.
I also own a Toyota Starlet GT Turbo, which will soon be replaced, by a cappo!

Whilst checking insurance comparisons for next year, I found that a cappo will be cheaper to insure than my 1.0 micra. I've wanted a cappo since I saw a black one with pink wheels take second place in the Fueltopia barrel sprint series in 2012, at Santa pod.

I'm weighing up my options as to buy Uk, or import one. Thanks for reading.
