Top 2, to make putting these bits on easier.....I found that by applying the resin to the piece 1st then putting it in place, worked well, but you will find your own rythm....

The problem spot....Bloody Air Bubbles...Don't think I applied enough resin before the piece, also noticed that the tape wasn't flat which could have something to do with it...??? but Nowt that can't be fixed.

Moving to the Medium pieces...again, paint the Panels, then start at the front edge and work back into the parcel shelf...

As you are progressing, the sides should already be drying...assuming you've got the mix right..... you can tell because they start to turn opaque... if not, it will take a while......

As the resinstarts to 'Go Off' you will notice the colour change...if you don't move fast enough it will start to turn to a 'Jelly' state, then solidify, then it's time to throw and mix some more.....

All that's left from my 1m sq. pack and 1 Lt resin.

Total cost...so far....$54.ooaus...approx. 27 GBpounds.

Now at this point, you let it dry and in hindsight, this is better done OUT of the car, so you can still drive it...??? That is how easy it really is.....

Now, you will need to apply more layers, this will depend how strong/thick you want it and what your intension is for the enclosure, but you need to add at least 1 more....After I have applied the next layer, I will discuss how to make The Front.

This one so far is turning out better than mine...lol. Just checked the drying process and will post a pic when it's dried so you can see what to expect.....I hope you are all enjoying this as much as I now am.....very enlightening this is...

That's the end of Part 1....The EASY bit

I will go into more as we start the next section...The Bastard Bit as I call it.....

But, while we are waiting......I would appreciate input on what you would like to see this finished as...??? I will be making another as well later, but for now...These come to mind.
USE YOUR IMAGINATION

1: Storage Compartment...Lockable...
2: Speaker enclosure
3: Combination of the above, complete with Cooler / Warmer ( food and drink storage ).

Bear in mind that the HEIGHT will have a bearing on your rear view....but doesn't have to be level with the top as it is now. This gives more Storage / Speaker capacity

Open to all ideas.....As with the Height, the DEPTH can also be brought forward, but this may intrude if you have your seat reclined, but then if you make any version of this, you can regulate these options to suit your particular driving position.....I'll do some sketches later tonite to give you an idea, but if anyone has their own, sketch it and post it up or PM me.

Would love to get started this weekend, but busy so will have to wait for at least another week or more to start

A lockable compartment(s) would be a boon, but I also wanted hidden bass-reflex unit as well. HERE is my old dsesigns, but I'm not sure that is anything like what they'll be like finished - maybe a bit more subtle than that, lol.

I'll probably have to make two units anyhow (so one will be for sale later) because at some point there are stainless hoops to go as well, which will have a large effect on its' shape and position of compartment doors.

Ha Ha, I remember that now, 'cos I replied to it...Easy enough.....just would depend on the Size of the Sub and Tubes you would use, and given where you have the Tubes, you could bring the compartments forward a bit...???
As for the Roll Bars....You could incorporate them into the design by 'Building them in', as the Enclosure will use the 'SAME MOUNTING POINTS' and Raising the space between them as a Slide-Out Drawer...I'll sketch it in a bit see what you think.

Idea Number 1.

Idea No.1....Crisp.

Quick sketch, not at all to scale and not exactly a Foose, but the general idea's there....Hate colouring, but I had to contrast it to show where it sits on Parcel Shelf....

Just had a thought...you could eliminate the tubes, bring the top drawer forward and Put along top of drawer at rear...like letter box opening, going down into speaker sealed underneath as in the Original...???

I forgot how good at sketching you are! I was thinking the same thing with the rollbars.Maybe you could put angled recesses (so stuff doesn't fall out when you brake!). Maplights or interior lights integrated somewhere? Plasma screen? lol

Great work so far, makes it a lot easier to see how it's done

Very good drawing there Sneaza!

I never thought of using drawers, probably because of the very limited space behind the seats for drawing them out far enough?

Have also thought about a full-width door - easier to store tent & stuf then?
Probably drop-down rather than pull-up?

Either way I'm looking forward to finding out how you'd secure them effectively whilst still keeping a professional and finished look to them?
(got a few ideas, but need to look closer in  the Screwfix catalogue)

Some of ours at work have a stretchy net acros the front - looks OE (mainly because it is), and gets great reviews from drivers - maybe that's an idea?

edit to add pic - can just about make them out.

Okay...Brain stormin'..I like it, Drawer on runners, like a computer Keyboard pull out  but with sides, Top or Bottom hinged, your own preference really, same amount of work involved. If you go Full Lengh Door...soooo easy, you'd almost be finished...lol, another Sketch comin' so you can see how to mount Doors etc... without them falling through.

Just had another idea, remember the Old Roll top desks...??? or am I pushing the AGE bit to far...???lol, Think Writers Desk......2 Sketches...

Bob, Can't see any nets....but then I am blind...lol, and I don't think they would fit above the Caps windscreen...

Cg, That's what the storage is for...lol, any extra bits Protruding to far will stop your seat movement and worst case, get broken off.....and you don't want that after going to all this trouble to build it...

, Yes...Bread Bins...lol, anyway, here's a variation on Idea No.1

Crisp, this would be much easier if it was flat....but more in lines with the Cap being curved...In case you can't read my scribble....Aluminium strip say 35-50mm,depends what you can get, attached to the inner edges, then 'glassed over on the inside creating a permanent bond...done on 2 sides and Top or Bottom depending on opening preference, the Lid will then be attached with piano hinge along other edge.

Since I last posted the pics...this is what it will look like as it dries......The dark patches mean it is still attached....once they disappear...off it comes, BUT DON'T DO IT !!! ....The reason is you have to add another layer and it is best done while still together to stop any distortion. Once you have added more, it will become much more rigid and safer to work on.

Any bits like this...sorry it's blurry, have to come off BEFORE THE NEXT LAYER, so, out with 80 Grit Sandpaper...I prefer Aluminium Oxide type...white colour, and sanding block and rub 'em off...Electric / Air sander will do just as well, I used my Dremel...easier to get into small bits....

They will be all over ....BE CAREFUL as they are as sharp as needles and HURT.... , It's at this point you should give the whole lot a light sand, just to get any bits that you cat see...as you put on the 2nd layer, any you didn't get, will form a bubble around....not overly important if you are not going to see inside, but Very important on the bits you will see, so best to get it right 1st time..... , Also helps the adhesion for next layer.
Forgot to add, use vaccuum for the dust, then Clean it down with warm water and dry before applying next layer.

The reason I haven't covered the whole thing and Stopped here, is, Unless you want to use this as a mold for a Fibreglass Parcel shelf...instead of the 3 pieces, you don't need to go past the 'Bump'....and realistically, the only reason I have gone this far is that I will be placing speaker pods in the corners... (like my 'Speaker Enclosure 2' in Sneaza Album ). Depending on your application, you could finish it level with the front of the Seat Belt Holes...??? again, personal preference.

WEAR A MASK / HANDKERCHIEF...ANYTHING THAT WILL STOP YOU FROM INHALING THE DUST !!! and Vaccuum as soon as finished so as not to disperse the dust.....

RH Sanded...using off cuts and sanding block....not a lot of pressure needed as only trying to smooth of rough bits...
