Just go steady!  Definately not the right time to see what she can do.  Much nicer driving a rear wheel drive car in the snow and ice in my opinion.

ok,got back and i love it ,the looks i was getting even in the dark made me smile
on the other hand i think she needs a new starter motor.the guy said he thought it was the battery (not been used since oct 05 )so without me knowing he went and got a new one(nice bloke)but i said i would fit it myself and the car started first time anyway.went to show a mate off mine and it would not start  nothink just a click when the key was turned,so i put the light on (like it says in the manual) and they did not dim so it must be the starter or soliniod.wonder how much that will be

Believe me, it could still be the battery. I got Suki out to wash her the other weekend and she started fine. A couple of hours later I went to snuggle her back up in the garage and .... nothing but that click!! I jump started her from my Peugeot and she started fine. Might be worth putting the new battery in and trying again before you spend too much on other bits

I'd have to agree there.  Stick the new battery in and see what happens.  The electrical system on the Capp is a strange system anyway, what with different things only working when the key is in a certain position and then other things still working when they shouldn't really after the key is removed!

Well if it does still do it check condition and tightness of all the connections on the starter.  Undo them, clean them up, tighten them back up fully and protect them with a dab of Vaseline or the like.

hi,
got back from work, jumped in and-----------click click--------about a dozen times then started.
while taking off the battery i noticed that it was a little wet on the top and thought water coming in somewhere dohh, then all of a suden there was a sharp, almost electric type  shock,up my little finger almost droped the battery. when i looked at my finger i had a tiny cut (im a sheet metal worker very sharp, dont even know you cut your self till you wash your hands) and then realised not water on the battery but ACID
when i looked in the battery tray it had acid in the bottom.washed it all out put in new battery and she started now at least 6 times(been out showing friends)

spoke to my brother who's a manager at hi-q  and he said if i phoned him last night he would have got me to check for acid spill as this means that the battery while reading 12 volts and working every thing in the car it could not give the required cranking amps to start it.usually meen the plates in the battery have corrodid and touched each other causing the acid to rise to the top and force its way under the screw head caps.

It's not so much the snow you need to worry about, it's the grit!

Has the previous owner done any rustproofing?  If not I would highly suggest you do.  Halfords do a nice Waxoyl kit with a hand pump and pressure gun.  Works very well.  Dinitrol do some very good products too.

They also mention the code as AUTOLEADS-PC2-41-8 so...

But yes that is definitely the one you want.

Not many have been fully colour coded so it would certainly stand out.  I think it suits the silver Cappos really well.  Not so keen on the red ones though.

Hiya Jax and welcome!

eBay can be very useful for finding one but you need to make sure it's a good one as you see some ropey examples on there.  That said you see some ropey examples elsewhere too!  As to finding the right one for you that can take time.  Depends if you want a mint example or are willing to buy one with the view of bringing it back to its former glory.  Rear arches are the main thing to look out for.  As these can be costly to have repaired this can bring down the asking price considerably.

Autotrader often have a few examples but these quite often tend to be overpriced examples.

The main thing is don't rush into it, take your time and buy one that is right for you.

OK, the words Jax and not rush do not mix unfortunately. Been looking for 3 weeks, will end up buying something else soon! Not short of transport but patience is not my virtue.

Well if you don't buy a Cappo you'll regret it!!

I've never known a car that can put such a smile on your face before you even get in to drive it.

I'll have a quick look at the current offerings and PM you my thoughts on them.

Well I found the box!! I've got to clear the garage a bit, which I'm hoping to do at the weekend (before and after the rugby), so I'll find all the bits that have fallen out the box then, hopefully!!
